I am looking to purchase Door Edge Guards for my 2013 Prius v.
I have found Part number PT93647100 but they say they are for Prius/Prius Plugin 2010-2012. How different are the doors? Will these work on a 2013 Prius v?

Doubt they would work, door sizes are different from the hatchback and V models. I have made a second request to Toyota Door Edge Guards I have yet to hear if the V or even C lines will be available soon.

I have had their door guards on previous cars with great results. Factory color matched and a perfect fit. They are a little pricey but worth every cent if wind catches rips the door from you or your passengers hands in a parking lot.

I used the U-channel clear vinyl door edge moldings you can find at your local auto parts store for about $5. They're bendable and will conform with the doors' outline and did I mention they are CLEAR. They come in pairs and I've used them on both the front and rear doors.

Thanks You sURFNmADNESS for letting me know that the doors are different sizes. KaliforniaKid, Clear sounds like a good choice until dirt gets trapped under the molding.

Thanks for the part numbers teamsc10190. I will have to check with my local Toyota in couple months or even watch the shop here to get them in.

They can't be genuine Toyota door edge guards that are stainless steel construction, coated in thermoplastic compound and then painted body color in Toyota paint pigments because they're not on the market yet.

I had a treatment from the dealership of what they called door edge guards. It was just a thin strip of the same protective clear sheet they used on the front of the car. They are folded around each door. Paid about $15 a door for the treatment. They are not what I was looking for. The Adell's are like no other door guards I have ever had. Previously had them on a 2005 Dodge Quad Cab Pickup. Color was a perfect match to the factory color so you really did not know they where there like you see on the cheaper chrome/black ones commonly found around the web.

Ok, I got a pre-release Adell/Toyota official door guards today and they look fantastic. I have been told they should be available via Toyota in about two more months. I have attached some pictures before and after install. Please note, I had opted for clear coat protection on the door edges like that found on the hood from rock chips. This slowed up the install phase by over an hour having to remove the left over glue.

A couple quick tips to add to the instructions. In order to remove any glue or stubborn tar, use rubbing alcohol. Simply Green will just not cut it. Also if you use a common black headed rubber mallet, wrap it first in gray duct tape. This will keep the door guards from getting black marks from the hammer.

Special Thanks goes out to teamsc10190 and Adell Corporation.

Interesting. What sort of material are they made from and how far do they protrude from the bodywork plane?

The door edge guards are made from stainless steel; completely encapsulated in thermoplastic compound (so there can never be metal to metal contact), and then painted in original Toyota paint pigments. It's a completely unique product only available from Toyota.

Maximum projection from the surface of the bodywork plane is 1.8 mm's

Toyota MSRP is $109, but you can find Toyota dealers on ebay selling them for a lot less. Make sure you're buying genuine Toyota DEGs from a Toyota dealer because that's the only place you can get this stainless steel-based product. Door edge guards from any other source are not stainless steel construction, and they aren't perfect body color match.

Aftermarket door edge guards are extruded plastic channels that are a lot bigger and they stick on the car with adhesive (that flows and oozes out in hot weather).

Getting lots of complements at work from other car owners. Many checking out Adell's website out for versions for their cars.

Great news! You need to explain to your friends that Adell can't tool DEGs for every car on the market, so they'll only have more popular models. Also; if Adell has an OE relationship such as with Toyota: the only place a customer can get genuine Toyota DEGs is through a Toyota dealership.

Wonder what effect on mileage installing something that disrupts the airflow along the body surface brings?

I make it a habit of holding onto the edge of the door as I open it and can's say I'd seen any chips on the edges of my doors on cars kept 9+ years and 70k+ miles.
