Hello! I have a 2015 Prius C, 110K miles, with the notorious P0A80 code. The car has always run perfectly, and once the mobile mechanic who diagnosed it reset the code, it's been basically fine since.

Once I got the code, I checked out the battery fan which was covered in a pretty solid layer of dust. I cleaned it, as well as the fan blades themselves, but no idea if that will help or if the battery is permanently damaged. (any advice or anecdotal experience to that end is also appreciated)

My main question is, does the CA emissions warranty cover my Prius C battery replacement? I've spoken to two different reps at Toyota who have given me two different answers, and I'm feeling a little disheartened and not eager to go to the dealership. I've read conflicting info that the Prius C is and isn't covered. Is there any chance of Toyota making an exception? Any and all help is appreciated!

My original understanding is 10-yr/150k-mile for Prius, and 8-yr/100k-mile for Prius C. But later I remember reading a post on Prius Chat someone got his Prius-C traction battery replaced under the 10-yr/150k-mile warranty in California.

According to the Toyota Warranty, it's 8 years/100K Miles.

But, I thought that the CARB requirements for Hybrid batteries were 10years/150K miles. But, that may be a latter requirement.
Imho, call up CARB ,and ask them! Plus, get their name, and record the time and Day.

If the CARB requirement is 10years/150K miles for your car, then ....

Then, call up Toyota, and tell you talked to XXX YYYY, on AAA BBB CCC.
Also, get that person's name, and record the data and time.
And, from talking to Mr/Ms YYYY, you're understanding is that the CARB required warranty on your vehicle is DDDD.
Is that correct? Or, do you need something in writing from CARB, or to have a CARB official contact them directly?

Note, always be polite and professional. The person you are talking to does not make the rules, nor do they decide what they can and can not tell you.

    Good Luck!
