For a set of 4. I wonder if that's only in conjunction with new car purchase.

    Yes, it's for a set of 4.

I doubt it. It's listed as a dealer-installed accessory. The only benefit of purchasing it with the purchase of the car is that you can roll it into the finance payments (but of course then you're paying interest on the accessory). Also, most wheel accessories do not include tires but it's fine since it's the same size as the factory specs.

    Heck, I'd even settle for:

It still makes me sad that the Gen 1 is still the first, and last, Prius ever to come with clean, reasonably attractive non-embarrassing wheels as standard equipment. It seems like, for the first model, they really wanted to resist former categories and say "yes, it'll be small and super-fuel-efficient, but also a quiet, comfortable, nicely-appointed little car" ... and then in all the models since, it's been just weird how goofy the wheels have looked, like they have internal design contests to make them goofier. I guess in the hope of upselling you to something--anything--that looks less goofy.

But that makes it a whole different game. I definitely do like those 2016 upsell wheels, but I'd feel funny buying them. If I buy a Gen 1 and I'm happy the wheels are nice, I feel like a value-conscious buyer who found a nice little car. Now if I buy a Gen 4 and upgrade it so the wheels are nice, I'd feel more like a fop who'd spend $900 changing the appearance of the wheels. Or if I don't, it feels like accepting a quality/finish downgrade from Gen 1. Frustrating.

I wonder how much the actual cost difference, or other performance difference, can be. Are the standard goofy ones so much cheaper to make, or so much lighter or more aerodynamic, and they couldn't be made with those benefits and still look presentable?

@ChapmanF I would think there's little or no price difference. Some exec with a "bright" idea?

I'll give you that ... of all the post-gen-1, standard Prius wheels, I'd have to say the base PIP wheels look the most like something you'd put on a car.

Since the purpose of the post was to report the reviewer's comments, I'm not sure what correction (if any) was relevant. Is there a way to see the edit history of a post (I know you can in facebook, haven't really noticed that capability here)? Or are you just counting on your memory?

Does anyone know if the black applique cover for the Prius 4 is a dealer installed option or something you need to order from the factory? I love the 2016 Prius and plan to buy one, but I'm not a fan of that white color on the center console. Reminds me too much of a toilet. It seems as though none of my local dealers are getting cars that have it pre-installed.

    Pretty sure it's dealer installed.

Maybe if EVERYBODY is ordering this they'll cave in a year or two?

I was told by the dealer that it is a dealer installed option. Cost $200.00 And I was told that the dealers do not have any markup on that price.

2016 Prius Carpet Floor Mats - OEM - PriusChat Shop

Last week, I called and texted the 877 number on the site, and still haven't heard anything back. I'd like to know for sure before I order online. Ofcourse, if they are this busy, I am not sure that they will ship anytime soon.

    Thanks
    Chris

Try starting a conversation with @Danny , the site admin, he runs the shop. He can be tough to get in touch with (I've been waiting for an answer to a question since last week as well) but he is who you need to call anyway so give it a try.
