Does anyone know of any good pictures of the body side moldings. Especially in profile view? All images I've seen have been at different angles, so it's hard for me to judge if they look good or not. The clearest image I've seen is from this:

Here's a video from a dealer. But it doesn't show what it looks like from far away...because of the damn tables and chairs. The accent color is suppose to be Piano Black.

    Merged
This one has an Aero Side Splitter too, I wonder what it looks like from far away.

Thanks for the video. Those side moldings don't look too bad, and I kinda like how they have the accent colors and not just be one tone color.
Hopefully more real pictures start to come on out.

i prefer without body side moldings though, much cleaner look and i don't think it will stop from getting dings anyway.

Found some. But they are $200.00 (from Japan). Could get a discount with a group buy.

One dealer I recently visited has new '16 Prius Three and Fours that have a $299(!) optional black covering for the "white porcelain" areas.

I put light coats of car wax on my white cup holder console and shifter panel. (I've already spilled my Starbucks drinks on that white.)

I have found the white to be pretty easy to keep clean. Doesn't seem to stain.

spilling coffee anywhere is a problem that goes beyond white furniture and carpeting.

Any method of blacking out, say painting especially, is gonna be problematic. Our previous Civic had a silver painted shifter bezel, and the plastic under was black. With a year or two it looked pretty sad.

    Plastic dip might be better?

I also thought about getting door side moldings, but not sure they would help much.

Regarding the white cup holder area, As krmcg said, the white areas are easy to clean. The finish seems to be of high quality.

Just to be sure, I added another coat of Meguiar's Ultimate Polymer Wax. (Same wax I use on the outside.) My "white porcelain china bathroom fixtures" are looking great this morning. I also used a soft microfiber applicator, and waxed all the "piano black" areas of the dash and around the window switches. Looks good. I try not to touch the "touch screen" very often, and instead use the buttons on the steering wheel for the radio; And use the voice activation button to get the navigation going. I keep a small microfiber towel in the passenger seat map pocket. Comes in real handy to clean the dust from the black surfaces.

When I was younger, I was a "detail fanatic", waxing my cars every time I washed them, and detailing the engines, etc. Now that I'm older, not so much. However, my new Pre-Eye will be the last car I purchase, and I'm going to be a bit picky with the detailing. Gave her another coat of wax today, including the headlights and the rear "lightning bolts." Also waxed inside the door frames, the door sills, and inside the hatchback. (Any place that's "white" got waxed! ;)) Heck, I even wax the outside window glass! Water beads nice, and just rolls off. Just have to make sure you wipe them several times to get the haze off.

I had no problems washing and detailing my Camry engine in the past. I'm not so sure about the Prius. Water on electrical parts doesn't mix.

Isn't there a caution, to not wax headlights? Not sure.

It's quite safe to wash under the hood. Just don't use a pressure washer. I use a garden hose. A pressure washer -can- force water into connectors and even past bearing seals.
I have also always waxed my headlamps. I don't wax windows however. Rain at speed tends to haze them when waxed.
Makes my head hurt to wonder how "RainX" works while wax does not. ;)
