    Hi all,

Newbie here looking to buy my first prius.
My local dealer has a 2016 Prius 2 with 10K miles for 20,000$
    Is the price reasonable.

    Thanks.

You can look at kbb.com for your zip code. Prices vary across the country. For my area the price is slightly toward the high end of their "fair price".
A 2016 will not have the standard safety features of the 2017 models. They were not even available as an option on the Two or Two ECO.

As progidyplace suggested, your actual city makes a difference on the pricing. Same with options and condition. However, for my town, this is in line with the kbb pricing.

kbb is not the industry standard, but useful for private party values.

As others have correctly suggested, your location (zip) is a factor.

Yes I normally use it for a basis on private party sales. Shopping in California, I've found most private party sales were priced 15% and higher over the kbb price- closer to dealer pricing. This was consistent over 4-5 models I looked at.

So either there's a more accurate pricing standard available, or private sellers there tend to price their cars higher.

Thanks all for your reply. I will look into 2017 model two. All my local dealers have priced the new 2017 Prius 2 around 25000$.
Should I wait till the 2018 model releases then the prices on the 2017 will drop?

That's always a possibility, but how patient can you be?

I currently drive an Acura TL 2002. It started leaking power steering fluid and cost of repair is more than the cost of the car but I can drive it with out any issues if I top off the power steering fluid.
So, I can wait 3 months or more easily.
Will the new model be available by then?
    Thanks for your help

There has been a discussion about this in another thread somewhere. No one knows when the 2018 will be available but I would think it should be within 3 months.

2018 will be the third year for the gen 4. For the gen 3, Toyota made several changes in the third year including the design of the rear lights and the center console. For most car models, changes like that happen in the 4th year, so I considered those changes in year 3 to be a bit of a surprise. Toyota has been mum about any changes coming up.
