I can't use that excuse. I have been down here since 1980, over half of my life.
The problem is the people I work with like working in a refrigerator. I thought it was better this summer, but I understand some are complaining about it being too hot inside, so the temperature will go lower :(

I taken to wasting a bit of fuel lately and going outside and sitting in the car with the AC on for half an hour to cool off.

I got here kind of late. I joined Prius Chat after I bought my Gen 2 but never got into posting or much reading and time went by and I retired well over three years ago. I didn't pay any attention to Gen 3 when it came out or Gen 4 . I was getting tired of my Gen 2 and it was a 5 with all the options. My wife said this is the most expensive car we ever bought and the interior was kind of bland and for a top of the line car too.
Last month we were at our local Ford dealer to get a long overdue recall done on our Grand Marquis and had time to kill. There was Shelby Mustang on the showroom floor at the Ford dealer. We walked across the lot to the Toyota dealer and walked into the showroom and there sat a new 2016 Prius 4 in black and we fell in love with it. I won't go into how impressed we were and all the changes from Gene 2 but we went back the next day and bought it. The salesman said black doesn't sell, there was another 2016 on the showroom floor in black that hasn't sold yet. The 2018's were out so we bought a two year old Prius.
My old Gen 2 was the best car I ever owned, I maintained it myself and only ever went back to the dealer for recalls. All I can say about it is it just worked.

Right there with you. When I traded in my '04, I choked up a bit. I'd never owned a car for as long as that one; it was the first brand new car I'd ever bought; it was the most trouble-free car I've owned so far.

I know you'll enjoy your new Prius. It's much more fun to drive than the Gen2.

My old Gen 2 was really a sacrifice car. The work environment I took it into wasn't very nice. I worked in a steel mill on Lake Michigan in the steel making division and the air quality was not good. The car would get covered with all the crap that was in the air and covered with it when it was wet, very corrosive. IT was showing rust on the right rear rocket panel. I never saw another Prius with rust. It didn't help at home either with not enough garage space. I sold my first car I ever owned and now can get the new one inside so it will have a better life.

Ditto. The Gen 2 was solid. It was using a bit of oil at the end and survived two rear end collisions but it started up every day (well except that one period where the 12V was on its last legs and we kinda dragged our feet on its replacement lol).

So has anyone come up with a cure for the white plastic parts of the interior? Sorry if its been addressed but I can't go through 200+ posts.
    Thanks

No, they're great, it's the black which is a pain and attracts dust. But someone did say you can get black trays to fit but they don't totally cover it.

    You choices are
    1. But a trim that minimizes the white. My trim two had a matte black console.
    2. Buy the Toyota appliqués to cover the console and shifter areas.
    3. Plastidip the parts.

I've put two black plastic cup shaped ashtrays in the cup holders and fill the tray with stuff, it makes it less noticeable.

I keep thinking that: remove the parts, plastidip them. Also, does Toyota not find it a face loss, that they are selling parts to cover up the trim? Or they just keep depositing the money...

No when their dealers make more mone off servicing non-hybrids.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

@krmcg: Thanks for the offer, but I have not yet bought a P4.

It seems the upholstery colors I want are "out of inventory" and I am not finding it in used model years either for the 4, but I just started looking and haven't put much time in yet. I am wondering though if any 4s were made with the grey fabric.

They made a grey? I thought the colors were moonstone (almost white), beige, & black.
The beige is not too bad ad a second choice. I found the black too dark.

The current 2018 brochure only shows Black Moonstone, & Beige. The Touring models only have Black or Moonstone.

My bad, I call the moonstone grey. It looks grey to me.
perhaps the "out of inventory" is regional?
