Thanks for the tips. What exactly do you mean by me being a pioneer? I am an owner of the first year gen 4?

I don't know if it's been answered here, but what about "actual" mpg - not the dashboard MPG. My guess is the new prius system is definitely more efficient 0-30 which is city because of increased torque even though I believe I saw that the max mph for ev is 25 versus 45 gen 3?

I'm awaiting the PiP if I were to make a move. But, I'm excited to see these "beasts" on the road in my area (Mass) nonetheless.

Wayne Gerdes at CleanMPG reported that the calculated mpg and dash mpg were very close (for a change). In fact the dash mpg was a little lower.

I'm halfway through my first tank. Looking forward to filling up. Although there will be that unknown of how "full" it was from the dealership.
    Driven 391 miles.
    Distance until empty 356 miles
    747? Useful miles. We'll see.
    Lifetime MPG 62.6

Nawww. I bought mine in 2013 when I was 73 and just ordered the 2016 and I'm 76.

Looks like 700 miles on a tank is a great range for any car. Would be nice to fill up in Oregon here and drive to Reno without having to stop
    for gas....

I'd kinda assume they filled 'til it first clicked off. That fulfills their obligation to provide you a tankful, without going overboard. If you fill by the same method odds are you'll be close to accurate. It's not a bad method either.

Yeah look forward to your results.

Pioneer as in you're one of the first people to own a Gen 4 so we haven't had time to pick up the nuances and figure out to exploit the HSD on the Gen 4 to get the best possible MPG.

That would truly be great! I get around 350 miles before I fill up. Of course, I don't wait until the light comes on. In fact, it never has come on with this Prius. Do you know if the tank holds more gallons than previous models?

I usually go to the next whole dollar. In California, that is often not too much gas...

Are you kidding? There is no way on earth my Gen 3 would ever get up to 45 on battery power. It would only get up to 15 and then only if the battery charge indicated fully charged.

I had (3) 600 mile tanks on my 2008 Touring Prius (Out of 267 fillups) so, that milestone required near-perfect conditions. The gas tank is the same size - except for the bladder on the Gen 2. I just don't know what to expect.

Why are the 2016s so slow to arrive? My salesman said he was glad I ordered one, because the first ones scheduled to arrive otherwise will be late next month, and he can't wait to see one. They do have the 2016 v in stock, but it looks nothing like the regular Prius for 2016.

I think you're misunderstanding: it's not while accelerating, it's under any conditions. For example, we have a steep downhill on one of our routes, on the way home. Even with your foot off the gas the car will pick up speed. And with slight press of the gas pedal you can get up to ~72 km/hr (roughly 45 mph) before the engine kicks in.

Still, isn't the EV limit higher on fourth gen??

    You and bisco, lol.

As far as tracking mileage by the tank, the more you standardize your fill procedure, the better. And I'd assume you're not producing actual shekels to pay, are using a card, so c'mon.

Correction. Not EV Mode, but within EV range (ie, that power bar below the mid way mark that is marked as EV when you're below it).

That I can go about 43 or so without tripping the gas engine. This includes going down hills too, anything above 45 seems to take the car out of ev and engages the ICE even though it's still 100 mpg or so.

Japanese people preordered 60,000 of them in december, might be that they can't cover the demand :D

Now would be a good time to start stopping at the "click". I will try that out for sure...
