So, if the Prius Three weighs only 50 lbs or so more than the Eco Two why does the Eco Two get better MPG? Same size tires, same lithium battery, only difference is a few more pounds, probably from the spare tire. It just does not add up to the Eco Two getting 4 more MPG. Something else must be at play here....

I just took delivery of my Two Eco this morning. It handles pretty well I'd say! I have a 2005 and a 2010 as well, and I posted a storage space comparison thread, with pictures of suitcases. Let me know if you want to see any other comparisons, and I'll happily do them.

You bet. Just let me know if you want to see any side by side comparisons between the three generations. Drive safe everyone!

From what I understand, which is not based on any inside knowledge, just rumor:

The tires are Low Resistance, which make a difference. Ofcourse when I replace mine, I'm replacing them with normal tires.
The slight weight difference is supposed to matter (ofcourse, I'm a little heavier than the typical person, so I'll make up for that...)
I believe that the programming of the hybrid system is tweaked, although again I can't confirm this (I can confirm that the ECO does have an EV mode and an ECO mode).

All together, I think this is where the differences come from.

Correct, no rear wiper. What is supposed to be special about the windshield? I can check for you.

You won't believe this. I was just informed today that the Prius I thought I had ordered was already sold. In fact, it was a special order. Their computer system must be pretty bad if a car that is not really on the market shows up in the system to be ordered. The salesman told me the only way to get a Prius with both the Convenience and Tech package was to special order it - that Toyota never installs both on any particular car that is shipped to dealers, unless it is a special order. So, now I am told it will be at least 3 months before I get mine.

FYI It seems like the new 2016 prius are now available thru the costco auto program online in the socal area. Previously, nothing shows up when searching for the new prius.

I turned on the accelerator guide thingy a few days ago that shows how I am accelerating and where to keep it at to get the best mpg and I improved my mpg, according to the car readings, to the mid to upper 60s. Before it was in the 50s. This is driving in 50s to low 60s Fahrenheit and about 30% of the time in the rain since I got my car last week.

Nice -- any cheat sheet on turning on the accelerator gude (still haven't finished going through all the features and didn't see any obvious reference in the manual)?

I did notice that the windows, not so much the windshield, seem to have somewhat of a green hue to them. They're certainly not perfectly clear. I'm guessing this is what they mean? Let me see if I can get a picture to work...

So the best way to see it was to roll down the main window and let you see the hue on the mini window. The windshield does seem to have the hue as well.

I plan to have tint put on. Although I guess I could just wait until the summer.

I'm wondering how that's going to look...

Yes, I'm curious as to whether it will make the inspection light test darker. If that's the case I should get a lighter tint.
