2016 Prius spotted in San Juan Capistrano by Del Obispo

    I was driving towards San Diego when this caught my eye. This 2016 Prius was spotted in San Juan Capistrano by Del Obispo. It's 100% a 2016 Prius, I didn't get the best shot because I was driving on the freeway but I checked it out from front to back, and it got off the freeway by Del Obispo.

    It was a red 2016 Prius, it seemed way lower than the current gen as we know by now, but seeing it in person made a difference.

    i like the sliding tray! prefer the front opening console for the passenger tho.

    i saw a console that opened to either side with magnetic hinges. that was cool.

    The MPG bar graph now tops out at 150 instead of 100. I like that. Those white dash panels still look ridiculous. Map mode on display? Didn't see a button option for that in the video. Head unit still takes CD's? That's odd. The battery up front is going to complicate those wanting to mod-up 1,000 watt inverters.

    I see lots of older folks driving the Prius, they probably haven't quite mastered streaming and other smartphone audio options.

    I like the look of the front end, much like some high end Lexus, but the back leaves something to be desired. :p

    I'm only in semi-hiding. I'm actually now going through my photos and notes to see what I might be able to share before next week. It seems like this 2nd wave of journalists is toeing the line of breaking embargo. There are things in that video above that you shouldn't be seeing yet, for example.

    I drove them all. Eco, Touring, non-Touring, Adv Tech package, Convenience package.

    I'm an "older folks", and I already have a CD and "streaming" and a "smartphone"! I have a CD at the local bank that I can withdraw and use for a rainy day. I guess youngins want a CD slot in the dash to deposit $100 bills to lower their car and make it ride like Fred Flintstonemobile! My Doc gives me medicine to help my streaming so I can pea like I usta. And I have a phone with a cord that makes and receives calls without an operator on the other end saying, "number please." How much smarter do you want a phone to be? These gull durn hipsters don't have any idea how much we older folks have mastered! Oh yeah, and I paid cash for my Prius with money from my CD. :p

    That is absolutely one of my favorite touches on the car.

    Not on my wave, but there are 5 waves total for the national journalists with 150 people total.
