2016 Prius would look better if the rear bumper wasn't black

I think we can be more creative with photo shop and fix it up right.

Contrasting stripes or paisley. Checkers would look good as well as camo.

 

In the case of white car, perhaps the black on white works. There we are trying for Storm Trooper look. Consumer Reports actually said Storm Trooper toilet (re: white interior), which I thought was really biased and uncalled for slam.

I never stopped to understand (or look at) that green pop up box (if you highlight the text)... good deal. My life is now easier!

 

I think Toyota tried to go for the diffuser look. Irony, being the cars that are color coded some owners make that part black wrap or carbon fiber stick on diffuser. Some owners that have it not color coded go the other way.
Either way the photo shop looked OK with it being painted. But I'm leaving that part alone. Unless some subtle after market add on parts become available which I think they will.

I like the black. It matches well with black accents on the front facia and split hatch

 

when the new RAV4 came out and i was still active on RAV4world, "how to paint this ugly black bumper" was a common question. but you can't please everyone i guess. other category of common questions was "how to lower the car" followed by "how to raise the car."

 

i guess my metallic gray blends pretty well with black bumper.

 

Did you paint those rims?

 

Really don't like the darker colors but that color is perfect with the rims.

 

already got blizzard pearl at home and a couple of gray colors, time for a change.

 

Was looking for your reflection in the paint. Very clean car.Noticed the reds are starting to arrive at the dealers. @#$%@!!@#. Just bought the white. Oh well.

 

I think that piece is low energy plastic, which would resist paint adhesion.

 

That was a slow reaction - to a post on May 31, 2016. Since then, I've bought a Gen 4 and now wondering what to replace it with.

To be honest, I've not noticed it on mine - which is a white car - but now you mention it, here it is:

So what are they try to convey/emulate, some sorta SUV skid-plate??

 

Alan, is your brake pedal depressed in that picture? Brake lights on? The 2016 US version looks different than yours. This photo shows the brake lights on, along with the back-up lights. Ignore the back up lights, and you can see how small the brake lights are.

And I like the black below the bumper.
