To be fair, if the numbers of cars is only 42 that is a rather small sample when you take into consideration the fact that they're relatively new for drivers to adapting a new way of driving.

The Niro has been reported elsewhere as getting less than the advertised mileage. One of their selling points is their mileage is higher than the Prius. In real life it is lower.

I don't dispute that, it's just that the graph reflects results from a somewhat small number of cars. (y)

We can't force people to drive them.

Most people don't need all wheel drive. Sure, if you need the added space I suppose it makes sense. But why not try a Prius V which gets better mileage than the Rav 4 hybrid. I live in Minneapolis, we do have one vehicle with awd (honda cr-v) but my wife drives a Prius and does just fine.

Totally agree. More maintenance requirements with these vehicles too.

A Prius v should get better mileage too. My son traded in his Gen 2 Prius for a 2015 Prius v a few years ago to get more space when taking his small dogs to dog shows.

Yes, definitely more maintenance with the 4x4 fluid, tires wear more with awd/4x4. It's usually a rougher ride too. I will be looking at a Prius V for my next vehicle. Hopefully slightly used. It's amazing what they demand though in cost here in the Twin Cities. I saw one at a local Toyota dealer for 20,000 on the nose. Was a 2014 with 56,000 miles. Model five with all the doo dads.

He was hoping for a little better mileage, but the Prius v is a heavier car. Shortly after he got his Gen 2 he became a hobby dog breeder and space got tight.
He is still carefully packing for long trips now. I think he wishes for a little more space.

They already discounted the Prius v because it looks like a van.

Well, the RAV 4 has the virtue of being an SUV, and that is the hottest market segment right now, I think from that it will have a very high resale value, with low gas prices Prii are under a lot of downward price pressure.

What? No I'm replying to the context of this thread lol. We already suggested a v and it wasn't to their preference (which is why the title is Prius Two or RAV4 Hybrid?"). Don't put words in my mouth :p. I'm Jon Snow (i.e. I know nothing :D)

Sorry, I misunderstood. I think the RAV-4 was originally about the size of the Prius v before the RAV-4 got bloated in size.

If we're talking about the 1996 RAV4, it was smaller (and the 2-dr RAV4 even shorter! It was almost Tercel sized). The current RAV4 is actually shorter than the Prius v.

Kinda like the 2 and 4 door Jeep Wrangler, there's about 20" difference in length.
