2018 Car of the year?

I wonder who's paid enough to win??
I once read about some of the politics behind so-called, "Car of the Year" ratings.... I remain cynical

It would DEFINITELY be cool; I had just read the blurb on Google, when I read your post. I truly believe that history will look very kindly on the Prime as a milestone vehicle!

Well, it's my car of the year. Who cares if I'm just not as prestigious as Motor Trend.

 

We can at least agree that the car is very underrated until you own and drive one. Incredible value for the money with loads of safety features.

 

That's what really matters; we put our money where our mouths are. We have the votes that count!
What really annoys me is the lack of "Context" when this and other cars are evaluated. This car is purchased principally by "Economy Conscious" (especially as regards to gasoline consumed) drivers; this is the context. This type of driver will tend to milk a car for optimum mileage. The Prime offers that choice, while still providing good performance and comfort, in a very reliable package. No matter how carefully you might drive most other cars, you won't get close to the mileage and range of the Prime, with its phenomenal reliability. The 2017 Toyota Prius Prime, the People's Choice Winner for Car of the Year!

People often forget about the technology that is loaded with the car. Although most people would say the Entune App is crappy, I am happy with the functionality of the app suite. I love that I can check on my car battery with push notifications, GPS tracking and Eco Dashboard. Not to mention the ability to Destination Search and save it in saved destination. The turn by turn on the head ups display is something that you get used to real fast and something you miss once you go back to a car without it.

 

So, if I understand the article correctly, they are nominating cars for 2018, which hasn't even arrived yet, and will determine a "car of the year" 2018 during (not after) the year, and are already choosing a previous year's model.

I swear sometimes I just don't get why people do this kind of stuff...
