Still. What other non plug-in cars that isn't named Prius, is capable of almost 50mpg all year?

    Oh right lol. Yes Ioniq.

But the Camry is miles bigger (or is that cubic feet?) than both the Prius and Ioniq.

    Well let us see.

Camry EPA Interior Volume 115.0 cu.ft.
Prius EPA Interior Volume 117.7 cu.ft.
Ioniq EPA Interior Volume 122.7 cu.ft.

    Nope...

The Camry is about 500 lbs heavier and makes a fair bit more power. I think of the Camry as being quite a bit more luxurious.

You need to compare passenger volume only. (i.e. excluding all the volume behind the rear seat) That’ll drop to 93.1 for the Prius. The number you’re quoting above includes cargo since there’s no hard distinction or divider between passenger and cargo area such as one would find in a sedan. The Ioniq would be around 96 cu ft of passenger only volume.

I mean, sit in a Prius. I don’t think you’ll be convinced it’s larger than a Camry. The Camry is sitting on a full size platform and it’s not that wasteful of a design such that it compromised passenger volume.

Camry EPA Passenger Volume 100 cu.ft.
Prius EPA Passenger Volume 91 cu.ft.
Ioniq EPA Passenger Volume 96 cu.ft.

I pulled those off Fueleconomy.gov, which rounds the decimal.

Yes, definitely. The Camry is on a higher standard than the Prius for interior accommodations.

Looks like the one year mark is coming up the 23rd of December. I expect the lifetime average to be 56 MPG displayed which would be about 53.5 MPG calculated at the pump.

....But there is not really a good way to compare PAX volume.
PAX volume on a sedan/Camry should be accurate as stated.

But EPA allows liftbacks some freedom to split the total volume to show more cargo space, if they so desire.
The fallback would be to go to Europe to see a more accurate PAX volume, but Europe does not seem to require that spec.
I do think the initial Gen4 spec list from Toyota you provided a long time ago showed the volume numbers both "straight":and via "EPA method".

got 40.6mpg at the pump from boston to virginia in our 2013 yesterday. mostly 60-65 mph, temps in the 30's, 506 miles.
    dash was reading 42.8

seriously considering upgrading to 2019 this fall when the 20's come out.

I'm enjoying mine. A guy at work is a big fan of the last generation. The new model is smaller or it is harder to get in back or something. I think this is true.

He also thinks one version has rear wheel drive which I'm not so sure about.

I like where they located the batteries. I think the 12v is under the hood now but you should double check.

I've got no point of comparison but yes, on the 2018 the batt is under the seat, the seatbacks fold down and the trunk is great. There is a spare which is rare!

Full tank was downsized to 13 gallons.

We do question its suitability for taxi use, however, as both front and rear seats are about an inch lower than before, and entry into the rear compartment requires negotiating a small opening between the rear-door pillar and the corner of the seat cushion.
