i think it's the shortest, but that's not generally why you buy it. it is probably the cheapest, and most fuel efficient, (both fuels) plus toyota quality.

My impression is that the 2017 Prime lacks very little in it's mechanical design. Just changing the design of the exterior sheet metal and tail-lights are the kind of gratuitous changes which are more annoying than useful.

The best thing Toyota could do would be to fix some of the minor software/firmware problems with the electronic user interface (including Entune) and provide those fixes to existing customers' vehicles. That would make me want to buy a new model when there was some major change (for example, increased EV battery range) and not go shopping with the competitors.

I believe this is something Tesla does. It does not prevent obsolescence but keeps customers feeling good about their cars and encourages customer loyalty

It all depends upon how you look at it. Toyota Canada has a video comparing the Prime with the Chevy Volt and never mentions the Volt's longer EV range, just that the Volt takes twice as long to fully charge.

This is one reason there are so few engineers in the marketing department. And why the authors of the new US tax bill keep stating its average tax reduction, not its median tax reduction.

Entune 3.0 or 2.0 on the 2018 Prius Prime?

    There is a technical solution:
    • Use "Power Search" at www.fueleconomy.gov
    • Adjust the model year to match your interest
    • Under vehicle type, select "Plug-In Hybrid"
    • Sort the list by fuel costs and examine in groups of four
Requirements should drive the decision and we have two plug-in hybrids that bracket the new model range:
    • 25 mi - the most efficient car, first choice for up to 3 destinations
    • 72 mi - still efficient, handles 10 destinations
Never forget, we can always drive away which battery only vehicles might not be able to do.

One question does Prime Plus does not get Etune only premium and advance models do?
if thats the case then 2018 model should be included

All of the trim lines get the media-related Entune apps (Pandora, Slacker, OpenTable, etc). These talk to the phone via USB or Bluetooth, and use the Internet connection on the phone.

Only the Advanced gets the "Prime Apps" (Charge Management, Vehicle Finder, ECO dashboard, Remote Climate). These apps on the phone talk to a server over the phone's Internet connection, and that server talks to the car over the Safety Connect cell phone. Only the Advanced has this built-in cell phone.

According to one user here, the Primes in Canada, despite whatever display they have, are all sans Entune.

Ooops, that's right. I was thinking of the US models. No Entune of either flavor (media or remote access) in Canada, I think. For the media apps, I think it has to do with licensing agreements.

There is the general rule that one only quotes statistics favorable to one's position.
