I don't have the nav system but am wondering if there's anyway if I plug my phone into the car I can get the Google Map to show up on the display?

Failing that any recs on cell phone holders that ideally would be on the dash right in front of the steering wheel?

I bought one of these on eBay - it was stuck in front of the Steering Wheel and to the back of my (cheap, I think about $70) GPS unit. I recently removed it, as I'm preparing the car for sale, but it came off easily - well, not difficult - I slid a piece of dental floss between the adhesive and the dashboard, and I worked it back and forth. It didn't leave a mark at all. That was after it had been on 3½ yrs.

That said - not sure it would work on a Mobile Phone as easily??

I installed one of these in my 06 gen 2 and CarPlay works great. Added bonus: I got a much better head unit that sounds worlds better than the OEM even with stock speakers.

The stock 2018 II base head unit is easily removed as well.

Add $200 for the kit and lose all onscreen functionality except backup camera. I think I'll pass on that one.

    A couple of things:

Gen 2 has (crappy) stock backup cam on the separate MFD screen.

The $200 kit for Gen 4 (gen 2 is much less) retains most (all?) stock head unit functionality (the few hybrid specific items I use are redundant and are already available on the upper dash display). From the details page (bold mine):

Retained Features: The following factory features (if applicable) are retained when replacing your factory radio with a compatible iDatalink Serial Port head unit from Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, or Pioneer using the Maestro RR Car Radio Replacement Interface module and HRN-RR-TO2 installation harness.

    • Analog or Digital Amp (with Turn On, Fader, & Gain)
    • Vehicle settings personalization menu
    • Auxiliary AV input
    • Backup camera
    • Steering Wheel Controls
Extra Features: The following Extra features are added when replacing your aftermarket head unit with a compatible iDatalink Serial Port head unit from Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer, or Alpine using the Maestro RR Car Radio Replacement Interface module and HRN-RR-TO2 installation harness.

      • Performances Gauges (user selectable)
      • Vehicle Information (Tire Pressure, Battery Voltage, Door Open, & Check Engine Codes)

The additional $25 charged by crutchfield for a pre-configured harness is an exceptional value, makes it all plug/play (no wire cutting/splicing on most installs), and is highly recommended.

    YMMV

On Gen 4 that is on the upper display only anyway, not the Head Unit.
