GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Toyota teases new Corolla fastback - motoring.com.au

2019 Toyota Corolla confirmed for Geneva

Toyota at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show

The part in bold (my emphasis) interests me. Does that mean Toyota will be offering two hybrid powertrains for the next gen Auris? The Gen 4 Prius' 1.8 litre and the new 2.0 litre?

In Frankfurt auto show in september 2017 they already said that there will be a higher performance hybrid option available in all of it's core models.

    C-HR Hy-Power CONCEPT:
    TOYOTA C-HR Hy-Power CONCEPT

It looks like the first two models with 2.0 hybrid system will be Auris and C-HR. Also note that both this announcements are coming from Europe, so other global models will probably came with a certain delay. It looks like the US market will first get this system in Lexus UX 250h.

The decision to do this in Europe first is probably to compete against diesel competition, every diesel car has basically more power options, typically 1.5 and 2.0 diesel engines. First ranges from around 100-130 HP and second from 150 to 200 HP. A 2.5 from Camry would probably be overkill or would be too hard to package in a small car, so they came up with this compact unit that fills the gap.

About the power rating, there is no data of combined hybrid power, but we have 2.0 engine power (107 kW), electric motor power (80 kW), and hybrid battery specs (7% more capacity an power).

So a hybrid power rating of around ~130 kW or ~180 HP is IMO very likely. Also interesting is that electric side is not that much more powerful than 1.8, the majority of the added power comes from the engine.

It depends on whether the A20A will be running in Atkinson mode or whether it'll be a dual Otto/Atkinson cycle setup

Almost certainly full-time Atkinson in the hybrid version.

And the CT 200h was the luxury version of the European-market Auris Hybrid (just like how the ES 300h is the luxury version of the Avalon Hybrid, and the NX 300h is the luxury version of the RAV4 Hybrid).
