A number of them made it to Canada. I've seen 3 up here.

No idea how they plan to service it.

It is super fun to drive, especially in Sport mode.

At least one of them made it to NJ. Speaking to the owner, he said Tesla wants nothing to do with it, but he found a Toyota dealer that would work on it.

Yeah.. I didn't want to say that in case I get flamed (for whatever reason) but that's what I heard (although the Toyota dealer part I guess depends on the area of the country. Given Canada has never had a Toyota EV, it'll be interesting to see... maybe they drive down to the border states to get it serviced?)

Yep - I'm not sure the V8/Twin-Cab truck guys consider them at all. No idea why.

Part of the problem is that there just aren't any around to buy - the Mitsubishi Outlander is the only one under $70k. Till IONIQ arrives, supposedly next month.

Really? u get more range than toyota labeled it? In Norway its a really common complaint that it doesnt even go 200KM on 100% charge while its said to go 250km.

But technically, it is a tesla tho lol, from what i know the drive train, batteries, motors and everything that has with "driving" to do is tesla. While the body is toyota, its named toyota, but is a full blown tesla.
like the new toyota supra is a BMW Z4 in a new shell.

Here in Norway i know for sure a new Electric Rav4 or some would sell insanly good, there is alot of electric cars here, mostly tesla, then the E-golf, then the leaf on third.

    A neighbor has one - 100K miles on it - & he still gets 125 miles range (40kWh traction pack). Here's a pic i took while walking the dog;

Someone lied. Because Toyota rated it at 113 miles (181 km) US epa rating. I got 130 miles with 100% charge once going further than usual. Battery measures 146 miles in Tesla ideal mileage mode... there is a hidden test procedure for it... unlike Tesla with a button.

    workin'n on it .....
    done!
130 vs 146 yeah I do remember him telling me about the different modes. Recently tesla did that to their own creations. The more economical mode is called "chill" ... it was an Econo mode that serves a multiplicity of purposes. People would spill their food in regular mode when the driver floors it. Not so, in 'chill' But it also serves to increase range as well as Tire longevity.
Speaking of the op, new styling, I do like this somewhat transitional Style used on the GenII RavEv (not small - but not the newer biger somewhat japanese aname look) but that's the nature of style, subjective.

Chill mode is like econ mode in Prius. Different than what I was referring to.

Tesla has a button called rated/ideal mode. Which reads the range of battery status. Rated is average range of user using car estimated... like most EV does. Ideal reads the BEST the car can do if you try.

Not only that. The 800 number for support is getting worse. They used to have a Rav4ev specialist to help coordinate with out of state dealer wanting to help, and send anot EV tech there. Now he is hidden and not allowed to take cases directly.... only whoever is next to answer the phone. And they don't even know this car exist. So you can see what usually happens next.

I saw a Rav4 EV for sale at a local Toyota dealership last year and test drove it. Seemed like a decent EV. Think they were asking $22k for it or so. It was gone from their website after a few days, so I was surprised and happy to see it sell so quickly.

That's because you use the non-reflective of real world driving NEDC test. EPA values are closer to what most would achieve.

Toyota chose to use the out going generation body for the EV instead of the new one. Probably hoping a dated look would slow sales.

Not true about the dated look. When Tesla got to choose a platform to build, the new Rav was still made of clay. And no way Toyota would allow their early development stuff be shown to partner. If Tesla had a choice of development platform, I believe they would have gone the PriusV route instead.

But... I really wish it was a current model Rav for the Rav4EV. The current one drives way better, and hell quieter than the previous gen one.

Here is the funny thing, my Rav4EV bottoms out when it hits a pothole. Anyone remember the crappy shocks from Gen2 Prius... similar experience... with Toyota trying to save a few bucks. The same road, my van and ModelS just drive right through it without drama.

Usually after Toyota US is convinced the stock of 2018s is sufficiently low.
2019 Corolla & Avalon are already listed.

Toyota has one of their Saleathons going right now to reduce the 2018 stock.
