    The only known about Subaru's PHEV is that they are working on one.

    What I read was speculation on the reporters' part. Subaru could be using HSD tech for this; they have worked with Toyota in the past. Yet I think doing so won't happen because they would likely prefer using their current AWD system with it.
    Ford licensed parts of the system that was in the gen2 Prius. They haven't done so since then, and Toyota got licenses from them in exchange.

    Toyota put up a lot of money for Mazda's plant in Mexico, and got the Mazda2 sedan made there as the iA. Mazda is already licensing hybrid tech from Toyota for a hybrid they sell in Japan, and Toyota likely got SkyActiv tech in exchange.

    That's fine. Owners may not even notice the slight decrease in mpg (like any old car). It's a hybrid, not a PHEV or BEV.

    slight? PiP owners that have lost capacity notice ... Honda hybrid owners noticed too .... in fact, they filed a class action suit against Honda. Can anything destroy hev's & phev's good will more than a bunch of angry owners - present day or future? .... pissed off 'because mpg is dropping?

    Well ya - but its the same issue .... 'if' the Rav gets a plug some day.
    Toyota has put way less stress on their hev packs - but phev's?
    BOTH types of Toyota hybrids deserve capacity warranties.

    For now. I wouldn't be surprised if the new R4h hits 40mpg combined.

    With news that Model Y is coming 11/2019, wonder if people would put in money on waiting list... and skip waiting for the Rav4h in early 2019.

    Some time back, Elon Musk had projected Model Y as 1M a year sale. Something Toyota can only dream of.

    If anyone here is dreaming then that would be Elon with 1M Model Y :D

    In the past Toyota was too much on the environmental side with their hybrids, now they are shifting towards a "better gasoline" side. Face it a hybrid is a gasser after all, if the hybrid part is really improving the driving experience then you have a seller in the traditional market where Tesla won't sell well for many years to come.

    That news is somewhat assumption. Nothing has been announced. This rumor is just based off exploratory RFIs to suppliers.

    It appears an "addition to". Wife wants the Prius.
    So here is the adventure part... I will be flying down to Seattle and then driving it back up through BC and YT all during a pandemic and riots! Ought to be fun, please pray for me. :)

    Does such a trip qualify as "essential travel" to allow you across the still-closed border? And if so, would you have to quarantine in the vehicle for the entire Canadian crossing?

    Do note that a portion of I-5 is still frequently closing, so an alternate route might be needed during certain time windows.
