Featured 2019 RAV4 with all-wheel drive and...

    Be careful of "another website" as the Imperial and US gallons are different, as well ad different US, Japanese, and European fuel Economy measurements. If CA means Canada, you use Imperial gallons but US EPA MPG. If CA means California you are US all the way.

    Yeah.. 62 Imp. mpg translates to 4.5L/100km which is the 52 US mpg that's discussed here.

    If a Rav4 AWD got 50mpg - just think what its EPA would be, if it were a plug-in !!

    I'm averaging 36mpg in my 2018 Rav4 Hybrid with a range of around 530 miles per tank. In contrast I was getting 55mpg in a 2017 Prius, same driving conditions. Would be really surprised if the new Rav4 Hybrid can achieve 50+mpg here in the states but we will see.

    That car is a fair candidate for my next, when I eventually retire the Outback. Gonna need somebody to lease a nice one with a not-black interior and be nice to it for 3 years starting in the spring... :D

    The next Rav hybrid will get the technical advances that Toyota has unveiled since the Prius arrived, but it is still a heavy(the current one is about 900 pounds heavier than the Prius), boxy, tall wagon that consumers expect to be able to tow a trailer.

    I saw the 2019 at the auto show, but they would not allow anyone to get near it. I crawled inside the 2018 model, and it was too cramped for my tall/wide body. I was disappointed in that aspect. My 2016 Prius actually has more room in the driving position.

    Owned a v for 6 years and never felt the need to tow a trailer. You want to do that often enough you buy another vehicle. You don't and you buy for the 99%. Just as I seldom want to take 5 people on a long trip with lots of stuff. The one time I did that I rented a mini-van. Renting for the exception makes sense. Probably looking seriously at the 2019 RAV4 just because of the height off the ground of the seats. Pay the price in MPG but at our age easier to get in and out. All car buys are compromises.

    The current Rav4 hybrid has the highest tow rating of the line up, and they are all high enough to handle a small trailer. No, not multi-axle horse and boat trailers, but enough so that someone with a jet ski, small boat, a couple ATVs, etc. needs to waste resources on a full size truck.

    Agreed. Toyota recently released the specs of the new Lexus UX. The hybrid with eAWD is rated as having combined 39 mpg. I don't see how the Rav4 Hybrid, with a bigger engine, more horsepower, better acceleration and about 300 more pounds of weight could do better than that.

    I will be looking at the UX and Rav4 (to replace our other vehicle), probably go for the Rav due to more leg and cargo room.

    Yeah maybe. At first glance it looks a bit more conventional, truck-like, to me. Putting it side-by-side with previous gen the new one seems less aerodynamic?

    I meant aerodynamically functional. Routs air through the wheel well. Even the Model 3 has em.

    Everyone I have looked are solid, allowing no airflow. Performance cars, like Tesla, might have them open for brake cooling.
