Here is the brochure if anyone is interested :

BTW - they use the term 'hybrid'...but it is actually a PHEV. 90 MPGe. However, I can't seem to find the MPG in 'hybrid only' mode. I suspect it isn't great and seems like they are 'hiding' it.

Found it on the fueleconomy.gov :

ICE is 35 MPG combined. Hmm...I see why they are hiding it.

I forget...is this the tech they licensed from Toyota?

It's 17% to 20% better than the ICE models.

It uses the the batter and motors from the Prius Prime, but the motors are used a Subaru designed transmission to maintain mechanical AWD like the rest of the line up.

From what I could tell, the transaxle in that car was a Toyota HSD turned 90° (longitudinal layout) so that it could drive a Subaru-style center differential for symmetrical AWD.

I really wanted one of those but they just weren't built in any real numbers. Still haven't seen one in person.

Especially when a RAV4 Prime also gets 90mpge in EV mode and 39mpg combined in hybrid mode and is bigger, faster, has more ground clearance and wider range of options.

That's the penalty for symmetrical AWD. The energy to have the rear axle always spinning has to come from somewhere.

Sounds like neither one is very common on dealer lots.

the 90MPGe is only during EV miles - and it only gets 17 miles on average, too.
