Don't want to sound like a complete pessimist, but in order to get the i-Force Max you have to do some serious upgrading to get that. On the Tundra, the cheapest trim would be a Limited. The current Tacoma can carry the V-6 all the way down to the SR trim (their US base trim). So you would probably have to go up a couple or three trim levels (TRD is minimum I believe) to get the i-Force Max on the new Tacoma. It's a shame because my son-in-law is getting a 10 mpg jump over his old 5.0L Tundra. Oh well I'm not trading but I am really interested in the 2400W AC inverter in the i-Force Max powertrain.

Ha ha, I'll save myself $20K+ and get an Anker 767 and throw that in my truck.

Nice truck but I miss the days when the Tacoma was a mini truck. I used a 1980 Toyota Tacoma long bed mini truck to clean a farm field of scrap in the past - what a great truck and workhorse it was. If I remember right it got close to 30 mpg.

Supposedly reaches dealers by the end of December. The 2.4L i-ForceMAX will follow in the spring. I checked a couple of dealers and 2023s are still in build stage. Maybe they lightened it, new cargo box material and aluminum tailgate but no spec details yet. Not sure how swapping the 3.5L Atkinson with the 2.4L turbo will give you better mpg, but maybe it will. The i-ForceMAX may get better mpg but not by a lot.

It is built like a tank and drives like one too. I thought my old T100 rode rough but my Taco is much worse. Pumped up the tires on these OEM Firestone 16" to 40 psi and it helped with control and ride immensely. Lifetime mpg is 24.1 which is better than the 19 I got with the T100.

FYI there's a pretty good video explaining the reliability of the 2.4L Turbo versus the 3.5L V6 by Sheldon Brown, Chief Engineer of the 2024 Tacoma:

    Specifications are available now:
2024 Toyota Tacoma - Toyota USA Newsroom

The 2024 Tacoma has some big differences over the previous generation Tacoma other than just the engine. Summaries are below:

    • Like the outgoing 2023 Tacoma, the 2024 SR and SR5 trims have an XtraCab option, but, they no longer have rear doors and there is no option for rear seats. The TRD PreRunner trim is preconfigured as an XtraCab and 2WD only. These 3 trims, therefore, only seat 2. All XtraCab options have 6 foot long beds. The rear area in the XtraCab is reserved for strictly storage with a full length lockable cabinet that hides pegboard compatible areas and cubby holes as well as on floor storage. Nope you can’t get the i-FORCE MAX or 6-speed MT with an XtraCab.
    • The 6-speed manual transmission is only available on the SR, TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road trims and only with 4WD Double Cab 5 foot short bed. Interestingly, the SR trim with the 6-speed MT is the same price as the 8-speed AT at $36,900. The TRD Sport trim with the 6-speed MT is $800 less than the 8-speed AT, $41,800 versus $42,600. The TRD Off-Road trim with the 6-speed MT is $1,100 less than the 8-speed AT, $41,800 versus $42,900.
    • The cheapest 2024 Tacoma trim is the SR XtraCab 2WD 2.4L Turbo at $32,995 incl. DPH compared to a 2023 Tacoma SR XtraCab 2WD 2.7L NA 4-cyl Utility package at $28,320 incl. DPH. The Limited trim is the top-of-the-line trim, so far, at $53,595 (incl. DPH) and is only available as 4WD Double Cab 5 foot bed.
    • The TRD Pro, new Trailhunter and i-FORCE MAX equipped trims have not been priced yet.
