By "click back" did you mean that after turning clockwise, hearing one click, and let go the gas cap, and then you heard another (much weaker) click? I do hear this "click back" on my car although it is much quieter than the first click, i.e. they sound very different. On the other hand if the "click back" is as loud as the tightening click then it does not seem normal.

I was going to reply but u beat me to it, 3 years of ownership 2 fill ups per day, that rubber has seen it's time. However she is still good to me, yesterday I got avg 50.5 at 605 miles im not about to complain now. Still fighting over that prius v. Hopefully when I reach 500000 they will all be gone.

Just sharing my experience. My lift struts went out about maybe 5_6 months ago I was using a vice grip I brought for a dollar, dealer wanted 135 piece. Autozone had a direct fit for 32 a piece had to order. Anyway I went by advanced auto and found a set for 20 a piece not a direct replacement but they sure as hell work and have a lifetime warranty. No more vice grip.

We've barely heard anything about your engine swap to cure the oil consumption problem! How does it run? How many miles were on the donor? Did you do this at the company shop? Have you looked at the old motor to see why it was consuming so much? Any/all answers appreciated.

Does it still count as 400K if the heart, well, the engine, is replaced?

Of course. The car's repair record is part of what makes this thread so interesting.

It sounds like this was a DIY repair, but I would still be interested to hear costs. I'd also love to hear what the underlying cause of the oil consumption was in the old engine.

Funny thing, glad u posted I was getting ready to post an experience and I was going to ask for u. I am taking another for the team prius, because of your previous thread of lucas oil. I switched to royal purple and it is good, however my consumption is at about 1900 before refill and about 2000 on a quart after. I decided to go with the lucas hd today after changing my oil, for test purpose I am back to mobil 1 extended (brown label) 5w-30. That lucas stuff is heavy like molasses, I hope i am not regretting this, I put 12 oz in, the other 4 oz i will use when I refill. The other 16 oz I will use on the next oil change. Again that stuff is thick like honey. Anyway I will keep u guys posted.

Great hearing about Prius longevity on the road (drivetrain, motor, batteries, etc) but what about interior durability? How are all those materials holding up (seat springs, floor boards, dashboards, buttons and knobs, rocker panels, etc)?
