4 cylinder engine threw a rod

    Can any qualified mechanic work on the engine or do I need to take my car to a hybrid specialist?

    Depends on the "qualified mechanic". Last week I got a call from a gentlemen who took his Civic hybrid to a shop for a clutch. They took the car half way apart then saw the orange wires and freaked out. This week I repaired a Prius which came to me from another shop who told to owner they could not fix it because it was a hybrid. They told him that after doing a crappy job on part of it which I ended up redoing. Basically, they didn't want him to leave empty handed so they fixed the part they were willing to, knowing he needed more work.

    Going to a hybrid specialist will most likely be your best bet.

    The nearest Toyota dealer is your best bet. The Car Guys site has repair recommendations if you want to look for an independent shop.
