what happens in vegas, stays in vegas

i suspect the stealership read the o/p's post, and he's buried in a shallow grave in the desert on the outskirts of town...

Dealers make money in finance and service. Not actual car sales

I think it was a little loose but I didn’t think about retorquing it at that time since I was doing an oil change lol. But after the oil change I torque it to 18.5 ft lbs and will update if there is any leak.

Too: the oil filter torque is mainly to prevent it working itself loose. the seal is the O-ring, along the barrel. If the housing torque was a bit low it would not affect the O-ring seal.

Update on 8/23 it was actually torqued higher than 18.5 ft lbs. I first marked the filter cap and the surrounding with whiteout and then loosened and re-torqued it to 18.5 ft lbs now and the whiteout on the filter cap is within a few cm to the whiteout on the surrounding.

Also before re-torqued it I AGAIN see the same oil spray around the filter cap and ON the electrical connectors right above the filter cap/housing. So it seems over torquing the filter cap will make the oil leak as I see little drip out of the filter cap.

So now I will update again in 2 weeks to see if it leaks again.

Those electrical connectors might be on oil pressure sensor, IIRC. And it's been known to leak too.
