4th generation coming 2015!

Haha, I'm starting to wish I hadn't found this forum until mid-2015 now. Maybe I'll go do something else instead of watching info on the gen 4 prius like a hawk...

 

LA Show! Since the Fuel Cell vehicle has been released, what else is there to show? It's in September right?

I do like that Chevy is taking onto modern day media and teasing the Volt 2.0 - also giving a hard date that we'll see it in January.

I think January is going to turn into a heck of a show!

The OC Auto Show is October 2-5th, but I doubt anything cool will be shown there as it's usually pretty small: .:: Orange County International Auto Show ::.

 

The Gen 4 Prius models are slated to arrive as a 2016 model, and not for months and months... the 2015 is a carryover model at this time other than some minimal changes with Persona being brought back in bright red or pearl white, and the back-up camera being optional on a II.

 

i like the optional back up camera, i wish they would do that with a few things like 3 door sks.

 

For those who are curious, the 2015 Persona is a special two-level model offering coming this September:

And a significant delay, which is likely due in no small part to this mission of pushing FCEV onto an unsuspecting public.

 

I'm thinking: BLAME for delay goes mostly to Caliprunia CARB et.al. and not Toyota so much.

 

I find it easier to just blame everybody except myself.

Yeah, and in truth I'm not necessarily one to wait either. I had both the 2001 Prius and currently have the 2004. Both were the first models of their series.

 

If you have $60 grand to blow AND you live in California the FCEV might be a good choice for you. For the rest of us it means nothing....

 

10k psi tanks suggest they're not good for anybody (safety wise), and $50 to fill the tank reduces the fiscal attraction, and it's a fuel that emanates from the same nonrenewable resources as coal and natural gas.

 

One could say the same thing about batteries, but both fuels have the potential to come from clean sources.

 

The difference is the individual has the choice with batteries. For hydrogen you are much more, if not completely reliant upon big oil.

I have also seen a number of EV owners become more aware of environmental issues and that have worked to minimize their power use in other areas of their lives.

 

"Not for months and months"...?

What about the PiP? Really like a year later even though supposedly they are developed in tandem? With the Prius brand I'd hope Toyota would break this 'cycle' for each Prius segment...even though the C and V are young. Once new technology rolls out I won't get why someone would by a Prius V gen III vs wait or get a gen iv now..

 

The dilemma:

• WAIT for the forthcoming "new & improved" GenIV, with its inevitable 'teething' problems, but likely +10% better FE?

• STICK with the current "tried & true" GenIII, with its demonstrated reliablity, but 'less-than-GenIV' FE?

 

The benefit to battery-powered EVs is any homeowner can relatively affordably start up their own power generation.

 

I have the same dilemma.

I was assuming that when the Prius GenIV is released the Prius V GenIV would also come out. I need to buy the V for space reasons. I read elsewhere that the V probably won't be updated until around 2017 and I don't want to wait that long.

Can anyone confirm that the Prius V GenIV won't come out in the same year as the Prius?
