At least the pictures created some interest in this thread.

As near as can be detected in the picture, it is the identical profile as the current model. I'd be inclined to agree, only a test mule, hopefully for other internal refinements.

The more I think about this picture, the more I suspect if anything, it is a 2014 ..... not a 2015.

But you would agree that it is the current Prius body shell and there will be no changes for 2014. The question now is: will it be new for 2015 or 2016?

That is the current Prius situation to date. Driver's wants a power adj. driver's seat, better face up to a sticker price just North of $29,000 in Prius 4.

I'll rub it in ... all 2013 Accords from Sport up get 10-way power dr. seat and Sport sticker is just over $24,000 , $5000 less than Prius. Not to mention it will drive circles around a Prius also, but yeah, it burns 6 more gallons per 450 miles.

anyrate, note to Toyota ... could you consider a power adjustable fabric seat (with power lumbar!!) in a 3 for, $26 something??

Which is 2,000 gallons - worth, say, $7,000 - over a 150,000 mile typical life.

Yeah, sure, that's why they sell 25k+ of them / month in US. Have you ever driven one?

Journalists who get to drive the finest cars on the planet would disagree with you. But, if stuck in pure MPG mode, yeah, I guess it's 'crap' from that standpoint.

Guess you're not diggin' the HAP, or not looking forward to the HAH.

That is my point. From everything we have read thus far, the writers that claim to know, suggest the 2014 will retain the current profile, (except for minor cosmetic changes), and the 4th generation major change will occur in 2015 model year. The picture of the concealed Prius is labelled "2015 Prius." Others have said it could possibly be a test mule for internal components, which is entirely possible, but it could also be a test mule for the 2014 (which is expected to have the same profile as the 2013). It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out.

OK, if it is a 2014, the changes will only be minor cosmetic, then why drape the car? Toyota wouldn't even need to test new GenIII 2014 models this way. They'd just go into production with the new LED what-evers and colors as a rolling change. The GenIII saw its big changes (if you'd call them that) with the 2012. Next up is an all-new GenIV sometime late 2014-ish, and that car pictured above, if it is a 2015, has exactly the same profile as a GenIII. If the new model looks just like the III, then I'll be very disappointed.

What sources are claiming a 4th gen Prius will be 2015 model year? I saw another link talking about that, but then they were flashing photos of the Toyota NS4 concept. I've seen Toyota press release stating the NS4 development is not targeted towards the Prius / family.

    Well they spied "something".

I challenge anyone to come to any conclusion about what might be under that impressively elaborate covering. They certainly want it to look like a Prius, but any changes that might exist?

Hmmmmm.... Interesting. Kinda looks like a Prius in shape. Might be a plug-in as there is a hatch thing on the right side. I thought it was suppose to be a new shape and all???

Those taillights are dead ringers for the 2012 on model. Just the little bit I saw seem to be exactly like the ones for the current models. Could these photos be old from like 2010 or something?

The powertrain could be the next gen HSD as stated for NS4 concept plugin car.

Another possibility is the production version of FCV-R concept hydrogen-electric hybrid.

Nothing disproves the theory that this is a current Prius in Goth apparel.
