If you haven't read the reference .... you should. Most interesting.

For those with more automotive knowledge ... how do you improve the efficiency of the ICE? Direct Injection?

I'm not sure how to interpret the comments about being lower? If the bottom is closer to the ground than my 2010, I could not drive it here unless it comes with skids or rollers on the front end.

Maybe they will follow Ford's lead and make the body completely from aluminum? I think right now only the door panels and possibly roof are????)

It will be interesting to see what occurs .... but I am disappointed that we must wait until model year 2016.

Lower slung and a lower CG doesn't have to mean less ground clearance. You move the heavier and denser components down.

Yikes I don't like that article. First off:
8% increase in mpg? What happened to 10%?
And the article states the Toyota Executives are still unsure about li-ion or using NiMH? What? Damn this makes it sound like a 2016 release year afterall ;O

The choices & timing are because cost is an extremely high priority.

You have 100mpg cars. They are called plug in cars.
The PiP can reach those levels, and higher, depending upon your driving patterns and behavior.

I agree. The longer they wait, the higher likelihood of Lithium batteries in all models IMO.

With my...plug-in Prius, I got 99 MPG with half my commute at 70 mph with the temp at -4°F today. I ended up with 1.3 miles left of EV still too, despite driving 16.8 miles.

The same stretch is over 200 MPG in the summer.

Sure it would. No, it wouldn't get you to 100mpg, but it will get others there. So the cars exist if your driving pattern is average.

The PiP would improve your 'mpg' by 9-15%. If you can plug in at work it would be closer to a 20-25% improvement.

If you are not concerned about electricity use, and can plug in at work, there are other plug ins that will get you well past 100mpg.

I would buy one. I think it looks great. It looks like the rear view mirrors are built into the hood. If they had a sign up list, I would sign up now.

Me too I like the "futuristic and Edgy" look. One of the reasons I drive a Prius is because it looks and behaves differently to other cars.

Hmm, I'm beginning to think this writer doesn't have any credibility. He mentioned 2014 Toyota Prius also improved fuel economy but links to the plugin 2014 which has the same economy as the 2013? Huh?

And now this is confusing, an article the day before says Toyota Execs didn't know if they wanted L-ion or NiMh and also it was an 8% improvement. This article states Execs are going to use Li-iOn and it's a 10% increase and that it's a 2015 Prius which could still show up later this year...

Then again, there were execs saying the 4th gen will show up in one of these car shows this year? Am I right?

Perhaps the April one so the release would be in the fall.

A lot of disinformation kicking around. It would be great if Toyota got off the wall and laid it straight, perhaps chuck a few ideas our way for our input!
