    That is dumb, but coal ash is being used as filler in school carpeting, and landscaping earthen works like in golf courses. Pound for pound the coal ash is safer than the nuclear waste, but there is a lot more of it.

    If regulations allowed it we could recycle the actual fuel waste, but our government says plutonium can only be used in bombs.

    Absolutely!
    That way I can run tax-free fuel in a diesel if I bought one of those recycled VWs!
    Although come to think of it, it would look a bit odd to have a big fuel oil tank installed next to our heat pump, but whatever.
