BestCarweb.jp just released articles listing 33 new models to be released in Japan this year, many of them just for the Japanese market. Prius is not among them. Of note, the Aqua (which was called Prius C in North America) is getting a 2nd gen there but won't come here.

As far as vehicles that will/may come here, the Lexus NX (Lexus version of Rav4/Venza) arrives in japan in May. Corolla Cross is expected in Japan in the Fall and may replace the CH-R.

i hope the 5th gen prius moves away from the 4th gen design language. i really dislike fragile lights right where u're most likely to bump n scratch ur car.

interior side- i hope the 5th gen is way out there to differentiate the prius from the more mainstream hybrid rav4 and hybrid corolla

Hmm, that looks like a Prius c lol

That's a concept of the Prius Prime from some import show

That's the Toyota LQ concept interior, not next gen Prius.

:) most of the press speculation in japan points to the 5th gen prius following the lead of the LQ design, especially for the interior. i dont think toyota will further the 4th gen exterior concept (like the prime concept) into the 5th given the terrible/worsening usa sales for 2016-2021. my guess is we'll see an outstanding/polarizing design inside n out like the LQ, plug-in hybrid only, solar ventilation, more self-driving with lidar or stereo cameras, but no solid state for the traction battery.

Rumour has it that they are spending more time with the interior design.

That actually makes sense, seeing as how many car reviewers are not looking at drivability, performance, maintainability or endurance, focusing instead on the infotainment abilities such as nav systems, sound systems and such. Prius has taken a lot of flack in recent years for not having the world's best dashboard / entertainment setup.

I agree…but I will say that the interior of the Ioniq 5 looks pretty slick.

Maybe Toyota figured they had better up their game in the interior department.

Wake me when they figure out they need to up their game in the exterior department. They can start with banning the big black cowcatcher grille.

At least they "forgot" the big black grille on the Gen 4 and then remembered it for the Prime.

Toyota will be playing catch-up really soon, they stopped being the strive too car company a few years ago, they are being surpassed in the comfort, infotainment, navigation and electrification departments by a LOT of car companies.

For 2022, the Prius is not changing, they are adding a Nightshade Edition of blacked out accents and black wheels, so just cosmetic changes for 2022.
Bold black badges, headlight accents and wheel inserts take this iconic hybrid to the next level. Introducing the 2022 Prius Nightshade Edition:
