It sounds like they’re talking not about pure EVs, but about “electrified” cars — hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and pure-EVs? Admittedly, I didn’t quite follow “where they’re coming from” here...

These companies sold the most EVs in the third quarter of 2018."

Sales volume are hardly the single metric to use when deciding with whom to invest. If the investment gurus at Money (Edit - US News) magazine were so keen on investment strategies, they wouldn’t be writing for a magazine, they would be independently wealthy.

My error. Saw "money" in the URL and had Money magazine on the brain.

Just a list of a few automakers?

Lots of people are going to float with the new electric car tide. Parts & assembly manufacturers- some already undoubtedly specialize in things needed for EVs. No mention at all?

Okay, what about electric utilities? Which ones have the capacity to serve, or serve the markets leading the change?

Repair industry? At some point there is going to be a nationwide chain store selling battery diagnostics & cell swaps and other EV service. It’s cottage industry for Priuseses now, but there’s going to be a McBatteries or an e-Meineke or something.

    Woefully incomplete listicle.

After there any mutual funds out the that focus on the EV industry? I'd consider investing in that one.

These "## ways of....." lists are nothing but clickbaits by once mighty media outlets in desperate attempt to stay afloat. There's 0 value from the information perspective; kills few minutes of your time, though.

More surprised that they put Nissan so low as the Leaf is the 4th best selling plug-in and the 3rd best selling true BEV:

That being said, @jb in NE is correct. If they were competent at making good investment decisions, they'd be doing that rather than journalism.

How about Hyundai stock (HYMTF) in NASDAQ ? I would thought Hyundai would be better company to invest in EV.

A couple of years ago Tesla was dangling the Model 3 in front of us as a $35K car and their stock was about $350. per share and rising. I considered buying 100 shares of the stock, keeping if for a year or two, then selling it and buying a Tesla. Luckily, I bought the Prime instead, as their stock is around $250 a share now.
