    Ideal government:
    Libertarian president
    Republican senate
Democratic house (or vice versa, & no oerwhelming majority for either)
Government will come to a standstill, and we will be forced to take control of our own lives.

The luddite anti-hybrid folks do not understand their own economics.

Rocky Mountain Institute continuously points out that if you want to double your profit, double your efficiency. True conservatives think and act long-term, not short-term. Just pick up a copy of Amory Lovin's book, Factor Four

Much of the noisy rhetoric has been run through critical thinking and long-term solutions in many areas are clear and in view.

Hear, hear. Any individual or group in politics, irregardless of party, who are looking hard for solutions that will last beyond the next election have my admiration.

Unfortunately, they appear to be scarce on the ground. :(

and don't forget that in the 60s, GM created a small, economical, "economy car."

but it had some engineering faults, and some guy wrote a book about the faults. then, even after GM corrected the faults, the same guy never acknowledged that the car might be safe, and eventually created a large anti-business organization and even ran for president, himself!

Unsafe at Any Speed, the story of the Corvair, by Ralph Nader.

thanks for torpedoing America's first real economy car, Ralph.

Car&Driver had a graph of highway death rates going back about thirty years or more. it's been an almost-steady decline, and didn't jump up or turn around when the double-nickel was put to death. NHTSA numbers, i believe... if my pc stops screwing up, i'll see if i can scrape the info off their site.

    :)
