I didn't even know it was there until my 13 year old neighbor saw it and pulled the hatch down with it.
Yea, now I use it all the time. Pretty cool.

That's exactly what I do. I can't seem to get up enough momentum to successfully get the hatch to close when pulling it down from the inside handle. :D

I'm 5'2" and I have no problem reaching the inside handle on the hatch...but perhaps it's those extra 2" that I have on you that helps? ;)

Hey man, YOU WIN THE PRIZE!!!

Where should I send the, "I'm bored as hell and have nothing better to do than read the owner's manual" trophy?

You are hilarious! Just remember if Google doesn't come through ask a teenager- they know everything.

Me and my poor kid got our own lesson the other day. Daddy's little girl (5 years old) snuck up on me as I was closing the hatch and turning away from the car and got a knock on the noggin. WE won't be doing that again soon!

Mine is...fortunately or unfortunately...in Europe with his dad at the moment (and I have the house ALL to myself for three weeks....HAHAHAHAHA). AND I prefer NOT having to keep reminding him I *DON'T* know everything, since he already KNOWS that. Google does not pass judgement. Google simply answers the question you asked--which VERY few teenagers do, when all is said and done....

Not to mention...there are VERRRRY frequent times one DESIRES to whack an 18 year old boy on the noggin...BobZ...Maybe you won't get there with your girl, but YOU WILL with the boys who are gonna come after her!

    And hyo...VERY naughty!!

In this case, it stands for 'wiggly nice person girl', too vertically challenged to reach without jumping... :D

It helps to put a bit of lube on those gas-spring rods every once
in a while. They're effectively exposed to the weather, and get
fairly crapped up and wet. That'll make the hatch come down much
    more easily.

OK, how pathetic is this: I just went out to my car to check out the handle and how to close the hatch with one fell swoop. I have to make sure to give it a good pull so it closes all the way.

So hand me one of those "I'm bored . . ." awards, too!

One word of caution. If you both forget the hatch is up, and you pull out of your garage, you may damage your spoiler, or worse, the hatch.

Take it from one who knows firsthand.

Can't happen unless we actually ever clean the garage...garage door has to be UP (which is way above hatch...and I'd notice the breeze before too long) if Pri hb is open...But thanks for the warning!

Ok, so I've tried this "single motion from the inside handle" in the past without success but I decided to give it another try. I tried a slightly different technique and... voila... it worked! Here's my added tip: Instead of a single downward motion, I sort of did a prep or wind up - slowly down halfway, then quickly all the way up and then strongly down again without any pause. Let me know if this helps anyone else. :)

For some reason this seems to work better for me left handed, even though I'm right handed. Go figure.

Hey, wanna know a trick that's not in the manual? If you're facing the open hatch and you want to put the back seats up, just pull on the seatbelt.
