My seven year old daughter drew/wrote this note to me yesterday. I want a Tesla so bad, but it's out of our range by a lot!

    Very cute:)
In nine years, when she starts driving, there should be a whole bunch of options.

You are from MN? How's the Tesla dealership here in town? I live in Crystal. Has the Tesla been good in the Winter? Do you have pictures?

Not to be too technical, but there are no Tesla "dealers".
The Tesla service center is also a Tesla store with a few marketing folks working out of that location.
Both the service, and store are the best group I have worked with.
They are one of the reasons that I never plan to buy a car from any other company, even if someone made a better BEV sold direct, instead of through a dealer.

The Tesla is the best winter car I have ever owned (RWD).
Heat turns as soon as the cold air can get pushed out of the vents.
Road grip, with winter tires, is better than any other car I have ever driven with one exception.
If trying to back up a hill on ice, grip is difficult as it moves the weight to the front.

I expect the new AWD models coming out now will eliminate that one drawback.
My user icon is our 60kWh Model S.

curious, did you buy it or are you leasing? are you concerned about long term reliability? What will you do if you go on a road trip?

We bought ours. After seeing very small amount of battery degradation on the Roadsters we were very confident in Tesla. Unlike most other companies, EVs are not a side show, compliance only vehicle.
It is, however, their first car designed by themselves from the ground up, so I did opt for the extended warranty.

As for road trips, I have already taken many. Most to neighboring states, one through the southwest states to CA and back (about 5000 miles).
The supercharger network is very convenient although if you are trying to do a "cannonball run" type of trip I would swap with a neighbor or rent.

I would call and see what cars they have available for test drives to see if they have one that you are interested in.
