I was wondering if somebody could help me out this is going to be my first winter season in this car here in Minnesota the roads are kind of ice today and I have driven many abs vehicles but when I put on the brakes hard in this 2008 Toyota Prius the traction light comes on but the pedal does not chatter is this normal?

    Yes.

Since on a Prius brakes aren’t directly connected to the pedal that pulsing of the pedal when abs is stopping from locking doesn’t happen. Toyota didn’t add an extra solenoid or something to achieve the pulsing but they just made the warning light to blink so that you do know that it’s so slippery that abs is stopping the brakes from locking.
