Does the temperature outside the car have to be higher or lower than the ac temperature the car is set to? Is the ac set to auto?

I just did a search and discovered this thread. I am a locksmith. I have been programming Prius FOBs for many years. In the past, I have always used the correct FOB for every vehicle. I have read that it is possible to program a FOB with an AC button to a Prius that does not have that feature.

As it happens, my daughter and are driving across the country in her 2015 Prius. When I left my shop, I took a programmer and some FOBs with me. Last night, I programmed a brand new FOB, I had on hand. It has the AC button. Hers does not. I have yet to confirm which is actually the correct FOB for this vehicle but, they both work.

I will very likely confirm the details at a dealer. I plan to stop by one as the headlight adjusting screws appear to be missing. Her mother bought this car new. I suspect that the headlights have been aimed too low since it was new!

I will make an effort to post what I learn, when I confirm the details.

    The owners manual.

@Dael, there are lots of OBDII (if that's what you meant by "obc") bluetooth or wifi devices that work with your phone and various apps to read trouble codes and many also let you change the "dealer only" custom settings. However, the most powerful and versatile solution is to get a Mini vci dongle from Amazon or Ebay. They come with a broken and older version of Techstream, which is the software the dealer uses. If you have an old laptop with 32-bit XP or Win7, it's not very hard to set up if you check out the 127 zillion threads here on PC about it. If you have the laptop, you can get set up for probably less than $30-35. Some dongles work better than others, but they are so cheap that, if you get a dud, it doesn't cost much to try another one. Just google "amazon minivci techstream."

But, if you just want to customize settings, want a quick solution, and don't mind spending a few bucks, Carista is a turnkey solution that combines a bluetooth adapter with an app that will give you a week's free trial (or is it a month?), after which it becomes rental software that you can rent by the month or by the year. You can get the adapter from Amazon and the phone app from the App Store or Google Play depending on your phone.

And there are other options as well. Going to the dealer to change settings will be either free or the most expensive option depending on the humanity of the dealer. If you need to do it more than once, it will for sure be the most time consuming.

Oops! I forgot what forum we were in. Apparently so did @Dael. The screenshot in his post (#35) is from either a Gen 4 or Prime manual. That looks just like my fob, so I assumed he as asking about Prime. But, from his information, it looks like he doesn't have a Prime either. Very mysterious!
