hello all, glad to be apart of the site. i am in need of advise on a 2008 prius that i own. about 3 weeks ago the ac started to go out intermitintly. i tried changing the cabin filter, that didnt work. i turned on the heater and checked to see if it was doing the same thing and it was. the system will run for about 5 to 10 minutes and then shut off. i searched on the net and couldnt find anything close to what i have going on with my car. so after a week of looking around the net. i bit my lip and took the car into the dealership. for 125.00 they checked it out and found that it was either a servoce subassembly, blower control or blower motor sub assembly. it would be one of the three or 2 of the three parts. altogether 750.00 to 1300.00 for them to fix. my questions are, can i replace the parts myself, would it be cheaper, would i just be able to plug the parts in and go, or do they need programming? any help wpuld be appreciated larry

I believe, on a new or used less tha 3yr Prius the warranty is 100,000 to 120000 miles ( latter is in CA ) Am I totally offbase here ? Sepuli: I would verify that for Ohio state. Other 08 PC members ?????
The 2G Prius has several warranties, the details of which depend upon which state the car is sold, registered and operated in. 1. 3 year / 36K mile "bumper to bumper" warranty. This warranty applies to all states. An air conditioning or heater problem would be covered under this warranty. 2. 5 year / 60K mile powertrain warranty. This applies to all states and certain specific powertrain items are covered. 3. Emissions warranty, either California or Federal. Consult your maintenance and warranty booklet to see what items are covered and for how long. 4. Hybrid system warranty, which is 8 years / 100K miles for vehicles sold in states that do not follow the CA lead regarding AT-PZEV certification. It provides 150K miles in CA and other states that follow suit. The time duration depends upon the component in question.
