    Re: accelerator problems part 2

You are more likely to feel this on a wet road, most likely where traffic has stopped......a red light, stop sign..where oils have collected on the roadway....when the Prius enters this slick oil spot it releases it's brakes to prevent sliding. it's this release of the brake that makes every feel that the car is running away on them. I have felt this same sensation while braking on manhole covers. I believe it's because the Prius is so sensitive that's why it's owners are feeling this

We in the North have this same problem. When a cold running vehicle, during very cold temperatures outside the running vehicle will drop moisture from it's tail pipe this will collect on the road, making a slick ice spot. It's bad enough trying to start on it, it's even worst if you should have to stop on this icy spot.

Regarding SSC-A0B and me noticing that the OP has changed his user info to indicate he has a 2010 Prius instead of 2011, there were a flurry of threads and posts on the issue. If the OP's Prius is old enough to not have had the running production change and hasn't had SSC-A0B done, he should get it done.

Bwilson4web documented the "brake pause" at Synopsis of ZVW30 braking problem - Hybrid Car Forums (and on PC), but I can't find the thread. He also documented the behavior w/measurements after SSC-A0B was applied at http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...78685-offer-document-brake-pause-problem.html. He also discussed and described it at http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...en-after-dealer-correction-2.html#post1119607 and http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...ne-ecu-minimize-fuel-economy.html#post1217644.

There was even this poll and thread: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...6201-poll-did-ecu-update-recall-work-you.html.

I haven't been following this thread or http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...sion/92900-accelerator-problems-part-2-a.html (that was started for some reason) but if the issue is the transition between regenerative and friction braking, it is not an "accelerator" problem.

I bought my Prius on 04/08/2011. The build date is 11/10 according to the door sticker. So I guess I have the upgrade that is mentioned here. I personallly am not having any issues with this problem.

Would this occurrence not be incredibly easy to test and reproduce? Just find a stretch of rough road and step on the brake hard and hold it. Have a passenger watch a Scangauge for rising RPM.

Not to revive an old topic but I found it interesting that in the Maintenance Schedule for the car the very first item to check every 5000 miles is the fit and location of the driver's side floor mat. Also there is a page in the owners manual describing a procedure to (paraphrasing here) "stop the car when the normal mode does not work".

Needless to say this did not prevent me from purchasing a new Prius.
