    Steve, the Prius doesn't have to crank the engine with the 12V, so it's considerably smaller.

    My Chevy has a timer on the radio, but then it stays on in OFF until the driver's door opens.

    What age were your other cars? The first mention of a battery protection circuit I saw in an owner's manual or feature list was for the 2006 HHR. You can let the radio in our 2001 Sable kill the battery.
