I have my Gen 2 2005 Prius and I have been lucky so far that my catalytic converter was not stolen

Can someone give a recommendation on the product that protects it from being stolen and wont overheat the car? Cat Security , Cat Shield , which one ????

We need to protect all our Gen 2 cars.

There a loads of them now. You can just search the internet for "Prius catalytic converter shield" to see your options. Call around to get price estimates for installation. Don't just call car repair places, as many places can install them (muffler shops, tire places, etc.). Personally, I paid $300 to both purchase and have mine installed.

    Thanks Burrito...

I just wanted to know what chose...
    1. Brand recommendation
    2. Self Install or Repair Shop
    3. Stainless Steele or other
    4. The chosen brand designed not to overheat the car ?
    5. Cost ?

Many people talk about it but no one details their findings and all Gen 2 should have something installed. I am trying to gather information to make an informed decision.

You can't patent or copyright the idea, only the design. So if you make a simple change in the design (like the shape of the cutouts), you can make and sell your own shields. That's why the market is now full of copycats. Honestly, they're probably all the same. Some people prefer the steel ones, since it'll be harder to cut through. Many, like me, feel that it's really mostly a deterrent. The hope is that the thief will see any kind of shield and move along to an easier target.

It is possible to self install, but you'll likely need some tools you won't otherwise use. You may also need to drill into the car's frame to enlarge some holes. I found a place while I was at work. I got off work early and had mine installed before I got home. I think it was worth the $300 I paid.

Someone will need to compile a list before I sticky a thread.
