    That's why I use a full-synthetic that doesn't begin to gel until -70 F.

    Probably, but not too bad in the grand scheme of things. I don't remember it making much of a racket compared to say, a Chevy with a lazy hydraulic lifter that knocks until it gets some oil. Apparently oil pumps are pretty good at forcing goo through an engine.
