AirBag light is embarrassing

I really don't see how you could miss your warning light for low tire pressure! What if it were your low oil light, oh wait the triangle of death would have come on too! Hope you can spot that.

These airbag lights are on every new car, and they all stay on 24/7. I really don't see what the issue is with these indicators.

The Tanaka air bags issue is only a concern for older vehicles, mostly Honda's.

Nope, the plug-in models don't have airbags. They use an inertia dampener to prevent injury... Right?

The tape is on! Now we might be able to unlearn the habit of ignoring that side of the display..
A little strip of red electrical tape. It cuts out about 95% of the yellow light emission..
Now it's down to less than 25 lumen.

Hey, now we can drive at night, without sun glasses!!

 

OP You can fix it if you'd like. I've done it before and I never turned back. You don't have to do both like me, if you'd like you can just do one so that the light only turns on when someone is sitting down (or opposite)

I took the cluster out, and used electrical tape to block off the lights. I tinted some of the others with 20% window tint (not shown) - I tinted the Eco mode light, the cruise control lights and the headlights on indicator.

 

Little over the top, why not just wear dark sunglasses!

 

Sounds good to me.. But the policeman might not like it..

 

the real concern is you may have a Takata built airbag which has shown evidence of contaminated propellent which in an accident can hurl bits and pieces into your face as the bag itself overinflates and bursts.
besides that the airbag lite being on is indicative that the bag is not working. having shown you know this likely results in your not only unprotected but not covered by insurance either yors or others. fix it its dealer resonsibility unless you caused non working.

 

These Takata airbags are installed in older cars I thought?

It's an indicator light, not a warning light. If you apply the same reasoning/thinking to your Ready indicator on your dash display, is that stoopid(sic) too?

They're just indicator lights. Some more purposeful, some more-or-less pointless. But tearing open your dash to cover them up??

We can still see the On-off for the passenger, but it's not so distracting with the red translucent tape over it..
