I just want to make a post heaping praise on my 2007 Prius. Almost at 250K miles with original Battery and am just in love with her even though people diss on her. Had her since 120k miles. Engine is bone dry, no leaks anywhere. Still gets 44mpg. AC has been solid since day one. No freon refills or any work to it. She burns 1 quart of oil every 2k miles but no biggie.

Here is to another 100k miles!

I've the same year, same amount mileage and just got the original battery pack in after 2 months of studying the worst pack in my local battery pack repair group. It has 6 modules changed already and will need 1-3 more soon. But yes, now that my original pack is back in, which has never had even one bad module, I feel the same way as you.

Battery pack repair group...didn't even know there was such a thing. Did the battery give out on you?

It's not as exciting as it sounds... It's just three dudes who live in the same town who like learning about hybrid cars and we have lots of friend's and family with hybrid cars so we're always working on something and sharing help, ideas, tools, resources every day so we succeed.

As for the battery pack, it was the first one I worked on years ago and it's kind of a miracle pack in terms of proving you can keep replacing modules indefinitely for cheaper than buying a new pack... Of course after 6 modules replaced you kinda wonder how much further?

Currently it's just block #8 that had the bad module and it'd red triangle ever day or as much as five times a day only to settle back down and not be a problem for weeks. My spreadsheet data on this pack is lengthy. There's other modules besides #8 I'd like to replace, but we've also talked about giving up on it, so we'll see. As you might suspect the person who owns this pack can only afford a few hundred dollars in repairs once or twice a year and can't afford a brand new pack.

Are there any warnings before a cell gives out? I have the torque app with the Prius battery monitoring feature and I check on it once in a while to see if there is a big difference on charge levels between the cells. So far they are all pretty close to each other

Oh, now you've done it. lol

Somewhere there is a gremlin which has read or seen this post and is now en route with friends to wreak havoc with your Prius. Joke of course, but sometimes things make you wonder. My dad bragged about his truck hitting 225k then rear axle seals become an issue, radiator developed a crack, then a section of the exhaust came loose. Followed by a 12v battery, front brake caliper breaking and destroying a rotor.

This is all in the span of about 6-8 months. He now he owns a new (used) 2016 Silverado. :p

Lol but I have been bragging to my friends for a while. I recently took a 1000 mile road trip and one friend refused to go because he said it was going to breakdown on the way due of the high miles lol. He is an idiot

I am convinced after buying a needy 2006 Prius needing HV battery, 12V battery and bad coolant flow control valve (code P1121)* that these Prius are dependable, well-engineered, and capable of 300k to 400k before ICE rebuild. When the Prius first came out, I was skeptical of their durability and reliability (clearly my skepticism was unwarranted). I am happy to happy with my 2006 Prius.

*- clearly all the above maladies were cured before using the car.

Red triangle does a pretty good job of that... Reading & clearing codes w/DR.w Prius app is pretty good prior warning.

Finally, my first big repair seems to have come upon me. AC is blowing hot...it's winter now so no biggie. Got a few months to figure out the issue. The compressor seems to kick on...any pointers or fuses I need to check?

AC system on the Prius is different from other cars. Please find the thread in PriusChat regarding this. It also depends on the year of the Prius.
