I wonder what car that did come from. Will you be using the power steering pump also?

Well I'll be dammed... I just got closer to making a prius turbocharged!

Soooo... I just realized... Atkinson cycle... is all ECU! Meaning, you can use a corolla non hybrid motor in a Prius!!!! That means to make a hybrid turbo, switching between Atkinson and Otto to make hybrid motor turbo.... it's all ecu!!!!

Atkinson's original design had a weird mechanical crankshaft linkage.

The Atkinson effect in the -FXE comes from the ECM controlling the intake cam timing ... but when you swap in a non-FXE engine, it's not guaranteed the camshaft and VVTi-adjuster range is the same as in the FXE. Even in the FXE there were changes to that adjustment range between Prius generations.

It's my understanding that this is the motor that they sell and that people install without issues all the time and I should find out here momentarily if it all works as according to plan because the way they described it this is not an fxe motor and it works on Priuses.

At first it sounded like these did come out of Prii okay and then after that I was asking the question well in Japan the Prius has an alternator how does that make sense

The Yaris/Scion engine has a reduced compression ratio, different cam and different intake. Most likely a different head and or pistons.

    Well...

It's the ECM programming to make use of the different camshaft and compression ratio between the Prius and non Prius engines. The actual ECMs are (almost certainly) not swappable.

Turbo charging is a whole 'nother level. Like doing anything on a Prius, you are going to end up fighting the OE ECM programming. I expect that will work as well as the PIP battery project.
