For you folks who have installed an aftermarket amplifier or powered subwoofer, Ground and Power are obvious, but how did you connect your REMOTE ON wire for the amplifier? What source are you using?

Reyphile, can you be more specific? Is there a suitable source towards the back of the car? Or, are you tapping into something under the hood, behind the dash?

Sure. Another forum member posted this a while back. I hope it helps. You want to use the "Accessory" signal that's switched by the ignition switch; it's located on the backside of the head unit.

All you want is any wire that becomes energised when the car is on. Cig lighter will do. The amp does not draw main power from this line, it only turns on a switch to let the main amp power to come on!

I understand the wiring of the amp.... what I am asking is what people are using as the remote wire...was there something towards the back of the car that is convenient? Or, are people tearing their dash apart to find a remote-on wire off the Head-unit?

You have to tear the car apart. There's no audio wiring in the back of the car, so you have to tap into the head unit ignition power or cig lighter and run/hide a wire to wherever you're putting the amp. Ditto power/ground and audio signals.

Please spend some time searching this sub-forum, as many of us have already gone down this road and posted our installs.

I think I am just going to go with the Rockford Fosgate powered unit. No remote wire needed. Can wire power to the 12v battery under the back seat and the ground to some nearby chassis body screw. Will tap the back door speakers for audio input to the amplifier...which will also act as the remote-on wire. One of the cool features of this powered sub is the ability to detect signal from the audio input for use as a remote-on wire. No need to run any wires from the front half of the car or disassemble my dash.

There might be, but I don't have it. Check the threads of the guys that swapped in new head-units; they may have that documentation.

Im not really familiar with these interfaces but I assume this outputs to the amp? How do you get output from the amp back to the speakers?

Where are you hooking your amp ground to? I have my amp under the passenger side seat. I thought about drilling a hole under the passenger seat in the frame number slot. I popped the plastic off and said Bingo! But I'm thinking I don't want to put a bolt there because the plastic may not fit back on very well.

if it is under the seat, use one of the bolts that anchors the seat to the floor

you would need a massive ring terminal for that, one bigger than any i have ever seen.

i used the existing ground [same as the 12v battery negative ground].

whatever you use, make sure you sand it down to bare/shiny metal.

I used the seat belt bolt. It goes right into the chassis and is completely bare metal.
