Waste of money and potential trouble-maker. Certainly not appropriate for a 3 yr old car.

Actually, I wasn't going to try this on my Prius near term anyway. I have a 2007 Camry Hybrid with 87K miles that shows some deposits on the engine oil dip stick.

Engine flush will cause damage after it breaks the carbon loose. It gets into the bearings and causes damage.
The best thing to do, IMO. Start changing the oil every 3K miles. If you had serviced it properly in the first place, you wouldn't be in this situation. You aren't saving ANYTHING by extending your oil service intervals.
    It's abuse, plain and simple.

No, this is why we have oil filters these days to prevent it. It's true, if engine is sludged a lot, oil pump pickup can be clogged, killing an engine (that was dieing anyhow). This is why oil pan should be removed and inspected afterwards.

OP probably should use a gentle cleaner like MMO ot AutoRx.

WRONG! I'm a failure analysis inspector and I see the damage from carbonized oil on a regular basis.

This is why I said to change the oil every 3K. The detergents in the oil will help remove the canonization
in a slow process that might enable the filter to help catch it. Changing it will drain out the junk that gets
loose and circulates into the oiling system. Filters are much better, but they can only do so much.

Yes, and I'm an astronaut myself.

Please explain how I'm wrong without yelling.

By saying carbonized, do you mean soot? We are not talking diesels here.

    Amsoil Engine Flush: any experiences?

    No.
I don't need to "be experienced" to know that urinating on a spark plug might not be a good thing to do......especially when you have access to things like WCs.
Some things in life just work that way.

    My advice?
Don't buy, rent, or lease trouble.
You'll get your share without having to buy some daffy over-priced snake-oil.

A Hycam with 87k miles shouldn't be needing an 'engine flush'. Actually.....most cars never will, but lets get back to the Hycam.
    How's your gas mileage?
    Use any oil?
    Smoke?
I'd need a little bit more convincing than some deposits on my oil dipstick to start experimenting with automotive chemistry, since like the rest of the car....the dipstick probably still works juuuust fine.

    Good Luck!

I have about 75 k on my 2010 Prius and my dip stick looks brand new. You must not polish your dip stick enough.

Perhaps you need to change your oil and filter more frequently. Have you had an oil analysis?

And I wouldn't introduce anything into my engine lubrication system that wasn't the proper grade lubricant either.

An effective way to remove sludge and condensates from internal combustion engines is with a hot oil treatment where high temp oil is circulated throughout the engine and then discarded. But I would never do that to a Prius since it is generally not susceptible to frequent oil contamination or extreme running cycles.

You could do your own hot oil treatment: 1. Change your oil. 2. Drive at highway speeds non stop for one tank of gas. 3. Change the oil again.

    YMMV.

Yeah! You must not understand,English either. Carbonized oil has nothing to do with Soot.

You clearly have problems with English, too.
It least my English is a second language. What is your excuse?

BTW, thanks for the picture. That helps. At least I know you are talking about oil sludge aka oil gelling. I doubt the OP has this problem.

Should I polish my dipstick more than I already do?

I was told when I was a kid not to do that....
