    For over a decade, PriusChat has been a great tool for bringing Prius enthusiasts together online. But, in the last few years, I’ve looked for ways to extend a physical dimension to the existing digital bonds we all share. I wanted to find a way to create an event that would not only focus on helping Prius owners learn more about their cars, but also provide opportunities to spend leisure time with other owners who share similar interests.

    Today, thanks to Toyota’s support, I’m happy to announce the first annual national celebration for owners of the first family of hybrids: To Go Before. To Go Before 2013 (or, as we call it, TGB4) will be held June 14, 15, & 16 in Riverside, California. With a fun mix of activities like a Friday afternoon service project, a Friday night party, all-day Saturday activities, and a huge Prius caravan through the mountains to Lake Arrowhead on Sunday morning, we’ve got a full weekend planned.

    Many of you wise Prius owners out there will pick up on the meaning of our gathering’s name: To Go Before. It’s the latin translation for Prius. While Russell Frost (What Drives Us podcast) and I have been spending many many months planning this year’s event, we wanted to come up with a name that carries an insider’s meaning - like a password for Prius enthusiasts.

    Its a long way to go from Florida. I suggest an East Coat and West Coast event. There's a whole lot of Prius owners on the Eastern Seaboard that should not be ignored.

    I want to try and make this so bad. My girlfriend is graduating on the 14th from UC Riverside so I will be there anyways and she lives 12 miles away from the park.

    It was a tough decision to place the event in SoCal, but there was a lot of hard data to back up the location choice. I'd love to see folks from across the nation come, but understand that it will be hard for some to make the trip.

    I do hope that we'll have some sort of carpooling or shuttle service to bring people from LAX to Riverside.

    Great location choice, I'm going to try to make it. I just don't know my work scedual that far out and it changes almost every month. Keep the updates coming.

    The schedule of events at the web site is impressive.

    For those flying in you may want to consider using Ontario Airport. It is closer to Riverside, CA.

    I suppose it's better than my suggestion...

    Come to think of it....To Go Before...is a good slogan. My parents always use to tell me "To Go Before" a long road trip....and with the Prius's MPG range? To Go Before is always a good idea.

    If you drive your Prius best to remember your plate number. Because the Blizzard White Prius will be bountiful in the parking lot. :)
