Just wanted to share a recent used oil analysis on my 2013 Prius C with ~ 173,000 miles on it and ~ 6,900 mile oil change interval. I initially changed my 2013 Prius C's oil every 10,000 miles for the first 80,000 miles, just following Toyota's schedule. Then I shortened the interval to 6 months/5,000 miles for the folliwng 90,000 miles at the recommendation of a previous dealership who offered an economical 3 oil change package that expired at around the time it would take me to drive 15,000 miles. I have never done an oil analysis prior to this . Now I live by a different dealer who mails me a $30 oil change w/ insepction & tire rotation coupon whenever it's been a year since I last saw them. They say on their website that they use mobil 1 or Toyota oil. The used oil analysis was done about 7 months after the last oil change at this dealerhsip. I get all my other service at a hybrid shop. The hybrid shop will do an oil change for ~$70 w/ OEM filter and Idemitsu 0w-20 oil. I am currently putting around 14,000 to 15,000 miles a year on the car. I wanted to test if I could go 7,000-7,500 miles instead of 5,000 miles to take advantage of the dealer's coupon. Spending only $100 a year for oil changes makes my wallet happy. Glad to know my engine can likely handle this schedule, despite a cold ramp up onto the freeway (I live about 2 miles up hill from the freeway, so the engine often turns off before I get to the onramp).
