Great job. I wish I had those skills.
I'm curious. During the life of your car, did you ever you a gas additive? Techron, etc? And what brand of gas did you buy most frequently? Thanks.

I’ve done the egr circuit job twice and I have used Techron and BG Products 44k, which is the concentrated version of Techron ;).

If I had not done the egr circuit prior to the mileage I am at now (184 k miles), I would expect to find a similar condition :(.

I buy top tier gas, usually Arco but sometimes Chevron.

Even with the best efforts, sometimes we are the mercy of our circumstances .

Ray, able to get any updates on BG “44k Induction System” service that many dealers are selling and if it works in cleaning the intake oil collection/EGR/what nots?:)

All I do is buy the can that us good for 20 gallons and split it between our Prius and RX450h ;).

As for the induction service, I’m not sure what the benefits are, but a wallet extraction comes to mind:whistle:.

The reason I use the 44k is to keep the injectors free flowing. 44k is concentrated Techron (from what the local BG rep shared woth me). When you open the can make sure it is in a well ventilated area as the smell is strong .

    Hope that helps(y).

They didn't have it. But I forgot to ask you guys, my car is not even three years old yet, how often should BG 44k be added to the gas tank?

I know there is a lot of controversy regarding fuel additives. Some people never use it at all. Others just buy top-tier gas. One article I saw said that ethanol over the years can foul up our fuel system. The jury is still out.

I’ve added it to our 2017 RX450h once already;).

You have to buy it off Amazon as it isn’t something every place has:(.

But once a year or every 15k miles is the recommendation from BG, and that’s what I do :).

Good luck with your decision (y).
