Any way to clean a dirty combination meter?

    The black nail polish is on the horizontal surface that is visible outside the car. The vertical surface appears to be ok

    That being the case, 83857 from the exploded parts diagram is not what you need. I guess you need a diagram which shows the dashboard top.

    So have you tried a fingernail to see whether you can scratch off some or all of that paint? Moisten the surface first with a damp paper towel...
