Sorry about the blank post....I hit the wrong button.
Anyway, what are you folks talking about? I thought that this thread was about the Shark Fin Antenna?

    Hey, hey, hey. :)

Darell asked about the plural of Prius was. I responded. Granted it went a bit further than that, but hey.

BTW, has anybody gotten the Shark Fin they've ordered yet?

    There, back on topic.

Oh sure. Drag ME back into this.... :p

Mine was "shipped" on the 02/28. Should be here today, I'd imagine. Just coming from two states away.... and apparently via Priority Mail.

When it does arrive can you post a picture of the underside? I'm curious as to the area inside. I have a small XM antenna that is behind the regular antenna. I just want to see if the XM antenna needs to move to one side.

Mine was delivered yesterday. I will put it on this weekend. There appears room to put the xm antenna behind the sharkfin (between the hatchback and the sharkfin. My "full-size" XM antenna will not fit underneath the sharkfin....but it just barely does not fit. If one has a smaller XM antenna, there shouldn't be a problem. I'll post pics of the product, process and before and afters.

    OK, I'm a touch confused.

http://www.sigmaautomotive.com/FoliaTec/antenna.php listed fin-type antennas that required a 12V power line. [IMG]

What I got today is a different model, that doesn't have any power requirements which makes me wonder about its reception capabilities.

Forgive the cameraphone pictures, but it isn't exactly the same style as the website shows, there being no stem base and the back of the fin is further back.

    [Broken External Image]:http://www.mikepaul.com/Fin1.jpg

What really bugs me is the logic inside isn't powered, just has a blue wire that would go onto the antenna mounting with the included screws. It says FRACTAL V15.3 inside, along with www.visualgarage.com but is this unit up to the same specs as the other?

While it would have been an adventure installing the unit that required 12V, I'm wondering why that didn't show up...

Looking at the beginning of this thread I didn't expect it to be the same as the Sigma one. Did you buy this from Sigma or PC (which had the group buy from Sharkfin [aka visual garage])?

Errr. You got the one you ordered. At least I'm assuming you didn't order from Sigma, but instead ordered the Virtual Garage unit through PC.

Mine came today as well. Same unit as you show. I'm a bit hesitant to install it - not that I'm worried about reception or 12V power... but that the paint job on it is not what I'd call "good." It is almost acceptable, but there sure wasn't much care put into it. The back isn't glossy, and it was put on way to thick so that all the metalic flakes are puddled. I wonder if they're all like this, and I should just stick it on there and quit bitching....

I would definitely contact Visual Garage about it - [email protected]

Just tell Arthur that you bought it through PriusChat and you're wondering about the quality of the paint job.

Oh, and Mike - that's the one you ordered. The supplier I lined up for it is different from the one Sigma lists.

This is where I assumed that Visual Garage was going to supply the same item seen on Sigma's website.

    Hee-haw...

Well, for $62 it should be better. I do not know what I'd do. I'm sure I would want to complain.

Thanks for the confirmation. If this had been a $30 product, I probably wouldn't have much to complain about. If I'm gonna stick something onto my car semi-permanently, I'd like it to look as good as the car!
